On average how much do mentors help with robots

I come from a team entirely student ran with no actual mentors (we have two "coaches" to meet the frc regulations but they don't know anything about robotics). Im just curious on how much they help out.

There's like a hissing noise emanating from my ds charger, is this something is should be worried about. I've read that it's because the voltage from the outlet is too high but is there like any fire hazard i should be worried about
