12124’s name

His names himself auxiliary.

The last thing 121 says to 12124 is “You’ve let yourself become an ‘auxiliary’ to your human’s will.”

12124 replies “is that so bad?”

Help improving bauhaus design

Can I get some advice on this Bauhaus design. Specifically I don’t like the top most left most square design and the one directly below it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m going to 3D print this for my mom who’s really into mid century art and furniture.

Cherry Blossom Crowds Are Destructive & Annoying

You can love that people come to UW to see the cherry blossoms while also recognizing that the current situation is damaging the campus and the trees.

Every year, people dismiss criticism with “everyone deserves to experience the blossoms” or “all the pictures look the same anyway.” That completely misses the point. The problem is not visitors existing. The problem is the sheer scale of unmanaged crowds and the damage that comes with them.

Thousands of people trampling roots, climbing branches, breaking off twigs to take home, littering, stealing bricks, and ignoring barriers absolutely harms the trees and the Quad itself.

UW is also, first and foremost, a home and workplace for students, staff, and alumni. During blossom season, parts of campus become nearly unusable because the crowds are so massive and unmanaged.

I think it’s great that people come to campus to see the trees and the university. UW is a public university, built and maintained in part with public money, and the Quad is beautiful.

This wouldn’t be nearly as controversial if UW actually addressed it. Limit crowd sizes with timed reservations or tickets, enforce access control, and actively police the people damaging the trees and property. Most people aren’t angry that visitors exist. They’re angry that UW refuses to acknowledge the legitimate problems caused by unmanaged crowds.

The zoo is a good comparison. Everyone should be able to go to the zoo, but you still need barriers, crowd control, and rules. You can’t let people climb into exhibits, harass animals, and damage the place just because it’s public.

The nature of Stormlight

Is anti-Investiture actually analogous to antimatter, or is anti-Stormlight simply a different “phase” or inversion of normal Stormlight?

In Rhythm of War and Wind and Truth, anti-Stormlight behaves destructively with Stormlight in a way that feels very similar to matter and antimatter annihilation.

Navani’s epigraphs in WaT describes it less as “negative energy” and more as Light placed into an inverted state.

I kinda remember a Word of Brandon saying the anti-Investiture associated with the Dakwara in Isles of the Emberdark is fundamentally different from the anti-Stormlight we’ve seen on Roshar so far. Or that he thinks he might make it fundamentally different he’s not sure yet. Something like that.

Sooo what it is?

How did fake Wit know about Navani melting Moash’s eyes out?

Navani ask’s Wit to tell Jezrien that she is not dangerous. Wit says “you want me to lie? You melted a man’s eyes out not 5 days ago.”

How did he know about that?

Also Navani has melted two people’s eyes out. Moash and fake Wit lol.
