What Does SMP Look Like Between Sessions? – The Process Behind the Final Result Mhp studio Utrecht Nederland 🇳🇱

Hey Reddit / SMPchat,

I regularly get asked: “What will I look like between sessions?”

My responsibility is to deliver the best possible healed result, but at the same time I always try to make sure my clients can comfortably go to work, see friends and live their normal lives while the treatment is still in progress.

So far, none of my clients have told me that people at work or at home were staring or asking what happened. Remember: you are extremely aware of your own scalp, but most people around you are not studying your head.

Redness usually settles within about 48 hours, and within a week the impressions already start looking softer.

Different situations require different techniques and different treatment plans. For example, with a completely bald Norwood 7, I first need to create a solid foundation. Some of these initial impressions can look stronger in the beginning, but they are an important part of how I build the final result layer by layer.

I’ll post several photos showing different treatments in progress. None of these are finished results. I simply want to show what you can realistically expect to look like between appointments.

For larger treatments, I often divide the scalp into sections. A Norwood 7 client may come for two or sometimes three consecutive days. Depending on the scalp and how the work develops, I might concentrate on the hairline, mid-scalp and blending before moving further.

In my opinion, great SMP takes time. If you find an artist who can complete everything in one session and you feel comfortable with that approach, that's absolutely your choice. But for people interested in my method, this is how I work!

For me, SMP isn't simply a job or filling a scalp with dots. Sometimes I'll spend 20–30 minutes just studying someone's head before I even start, waiting until I can clearly see how I want to approach it and inspiration kicks in!!

Art exists in many forms. Mine just happens to be built, dot by dot, on the scalp.

Healed SMP Result – Photos in Multiple Lighting Conditions & From Every Angle | MHP Studio Utrecht Nederland 🇳🇱

Following up on my previous video post, here are the healed-result photos, taken from multiple angles and under different lighting conditions.

I’ve thought about what I could do to improve this result even further, but at this point, I don’t believe adding anything would make it better.

When the SMP on top blends seamlessly with the client’s natural hair on the sides — matching the shade, density and overall appearance so closely that even a trained eye struggles to tell where the natural hair ends and the SMP begins — then, in my opinion, the mission is accomplished.

Healed SMP Result Artist Ronnie Veronese MHP Studio Utrecht Nederland 🇳🇱

Here’s a pro (HD CLOSE UP) video showing a fully healed SMP result.

I had this client scheduled today to continue his treatment. However, after looking at the healed result together, we decided not to add anything.

In my opinion, adding more ink at this stage would not improve the result. The density and shade blend extremely well with his existing hair on the sides, and most importantly, this is exactly what the client wanted. He is extremely happy with the result and absolutely does not want it any darker.

Knowing when to stop is just as important as knowing how to perform SMP. More ink doesn’t automatically mean a better result.

I’ve advised him to come back in a year or two so we can reassess everything and decide whether a small touch-up is necessary. For now, we’re leaving it exactly as it is.

Healed SMP results, photographed before performing the final balancing session ⚖️ Mhp studio, Utrecht, Nederland 🇳🇱

Dear all,

Before performing the final session, I took the opportunity to photograph these healed results.

The last session was a short 45-minute balancing session, where I only needed to make a few subtle refinements to perfect the overall result.

I took some photos inside my studio and some outdoors, so you can clearly see the difference in appearance under indoor lighting versus direct sunlight.

My client is happy with the outcome.

Lately, I've been experimenting with new needle configurations and pigment dilution ratios. Both the needle sizes and dilution formulas I'm currently testing are unlike anything that has traditionally been used in our industry. They are well outside the conventional standards.

Only time will tell what the future brings, but I'm always striving to refine my technique and push the boundaries in pursuit of the most natural healed results possible.

Kind regards,
Ronnie Veronese

23 Months Healed SMP – MHP Results MHP Studio Utrecht, Nederland 🇳🇱

Hallo SMP chat,

This client reached out to book a touch-up session. After reviewing his case, I declined, as I don’t believe I can improve the result beyond its current state (at this moment)

The client has a very light skin tone with little to no underlying contrast, which limits how much further enhancement is realistically possible.

I did take the opportunity to document his current result on video.

Fresh results are great to show, but these are the results that really matter —
👉 fully healed, at least 1 year later
👉 captured with a professional camera (no smartphone)
👉 close-up and unedited

You can check my other post for the before situation:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SMPchat/s/r4W4CaqajA

The SMP still holds its structure after this period and has not turned into a flat shadow also remained true in tone and has not shifted toward a blue hue.

For those who don’t like the widow’s peak:

I only do this if it fits the client. If they had it before (based on old photos or facial movement), I bring it back in the design.

I always try to recreate how the client would look if they still had their natural hair.

A Few SMP Projects Currently in Progress (See Description for More Information) Mhpstudio Utrecht Nederland 🇳🇱

Good morning SMP Chat,

It has been a while since I last posted. I wanted to share a few recent projects and give you a insight look.

None of these cases are finished yet, but I was able to take some good photos while the skin was calm and not too red.

Photo 1 – This work has mainly been done with a 2RL technique using very small and fine impressions. He has the perfect skin type for this approach. What you see here is only the second layer. Once healed, we will continue building the result and see what else is needed.

Photos 2, 3 & 4 – Another work in progress. The base was done with 3RL and we are now refining it with 2RL. If you look closely, you can see the difference between the front hairline and the back. This is intentional. I like to keep the front softer and more natural, while gradually adding a bit more strength towards the sides and back. In the end, everything will be blended together into one natural result.

Photo 5 – directly after the second layer. Different skin type, different approach. This project is being done with 3RL.

Photo 6 – directly after the second layer. The first session was done together with bro Alex.

Photo 7 – directly after the second layer. This will be a stronger SMP result because his natural hair has a stronger appearance. We try to match that while still keeping the hairline soft and natural.

All of these photos are taken immediately after treatment, so the work is still fresh and not finished yet. Once these projects are healed and completed, I will share the healed results and the before as well.

I hope this gives you a better idea of the process.

Best regards,

Ronnie
