Is that BEAUTIFULLY WHITE or what? Four months ago I presented a series on the Dermestid'ing of Pauli and then it was onto degreasing (which took forever). Finally the little guy found his 10% peroxide bath and viola, an almost finished product.

This is a Dermestarium which is a fancy name for a vivarium for Dermestid beetles.

Dermestid beetles are used in museums to "clean up" skeletons for display and research. They are also used to clean up skulls and the like. A very low maintenance insect that provides beautiful bones.

A completely sealed 10 gal. aquarium with a electric vent and healthy colony of beetles ready to munch. Skeleton pic shows my recently deceased guinea pig after a week in the tank. Include is a packet of cyrstal water for their "watering hole.". $150 gets you a turn key operation.

Move over, Disneyland, this sub/r is the happiest place in the universe !!!

Yo, Chin-munity, you ARE the best! [image stolen from Pininterest (soarie)]

money = good ; Ice = BAD

My local CITIZENS Private BANK sent this beautiful mailer so I trimmed it up to postcard size ( 6" x 4.25") & slapped on a $0.61 stamp to send back to them.

Go Ahead. Throw all the cold water you want. I've got more chalk!

They complain that I'm messing up the newly laid asphalt; yet it's their actions that make a mess. I have now had enough neighbors give me a thumbs up and/or say thank you, so I've decided I will stand on my 1st amendment right and you whiners can put up with chalk on your car tires (or drive around it). It's a four way stop on a 25 mph residential street, you nimrods.

Beside speaking to me angrily at 6:30 a.m. and calling me a moron over and over and telling me he was going to call the police this guy also said, "I know where you live." That was a bit unnerving and while it could have been related to calling police it was spoken while berating me, not connected to his calling police remark.

Is it time to retire my chalk or do I just need to operate more covertly, i.e. headlamp and cover of night as opposed to wee dawn hour?

Good news, though, she filed this report under sidewalk repair so hopefully the san diego city employee reading this just closes it out! Chalk on new asphalt is so egregious and screw the potholes, I want my road cleaned!

*** slight update*** This same post in r/sandiego has zero upvote and 41% ratio. San Diegans are a funny crowd!

You hope a San Diego city employee reading this Get It Done report & seeing "Chalk" would have judiciously closed out such a silly complaint. Oh, but no. Bright & early this Monday morning, a fine hard working city crew dutifully rid our streets of "graffiti." Take note of 2nd pic above where they made sure we knew a single little peace sign on the curb was fully obliterated. (Hey! Isn't it illegal to wash side walks in SD?)

This is the last of my guinea pig parts still in ammonia. Picture #1. I think 1 and 4 are bones and 2 and 3 are tendons. This bone was in the sun for an hour after I took pic and 2 and 3 shriveled up, so pretty sure about that. Picture #2. Do you think the circled areas need more ammonia time or should i just peroxide these bones and see how not white they turn out?

Is there a Chilton like manual that articulators use or should I just google for skeletal schemata?

Thanks for advice! cheers

Thanks to Dx-Human_NOS i took the slightly nibbled schnacks out of both Dermestariums and gave them a time out in the freezer. You can see the bit of frost on these pose pics just before returning them to their respective snack trays. Within and hour both were back to being beetle-munched. This will give me a good comparison of the two habitats to see which one gets ett first. An action video to follow shortly.

Found this in the street curb and popped it straight into the Dermestarium. Weirdly, there were two more this a.m. Pretty sure they are opossums.

Stainless steel "floor" just like the setups at the Chicago Field Museum. Air tight with fan and variable switch for motor. All that is needed is a hole in your wall and some dead animal remains.
