Short-term disability versus intermittent work at home

I need to get this paperwork in ASAP! I’m on FMLA, but I don’t know what to do. It looks like I can get intermittent work from home a little while longer while I try and navigate what my new life is like. My concern is my brain fog plus I’m gonna be adding more appointments. I’m terrified they’re gonna put me on a PIP because yes I’m definitely looking at my computer sometimes thinking what was I doing? I know I’m not 100%. So do I go on short-term disability? This is my insurance and my husband’s insurance and our only income and I’m terrified.

Any words of wisdom?

Managing on gabapentin

Okay. Maybe I’m in denial. I’m managing on gabapentin. Is it because I am newly diagnosed and the best /s is to come?

I’m not convinced that it’s another problem too BUT I might have on that really does explain …. I can’t fix that problem if I do in fact have CRPS.
At a loss

Was convinced I had it but now I don’t know. Pain doc noted things that were not true so not sure if I can trust him. aahhhhhhh.

I miss going to work

I’m a newbie. Only started with symptoms Aug 1.

Was going to be home for 6-8 weeks. Just celebrated 22 years with an awesome company. Pushed back return twice because I just wasn’t recovering. They are expecting me in 2 days and the idea is ludicrous to say the least.

I am praying that I can maybe do STD while I figure out logistics and then a WFH situation so I can keep my home and benefits.

Just venting.

Please help I’m new to this!

Haven’t even met with someone on how to manage my medication. I’ve only been given gabapentin so far. Just recently told I’d have this. I need a 101 book. I took 300 mg last night at 10 PM. I just took another 100 mg. I don’t know if that’s gonna help me. Am I gonna be able to work tomorrow? Do I need to keep taking it all day every day? Is it gonna fluctuate? I have no idea what I’m doing and I’m freaking out.

I keep seeing all these other medication’s that you are talking about and I’ve never even heard of them. Am I gonna end up taking those later? This is gonna get worse.

Please forgive the rambling I’m literally days in and my husband is in denial so I have to hide trying to find out resources until he comes to terms.

Diagnosed today

Well, kind of sort of… I have no idea. My surgeon just dropped it in my lap and then ghosted me.

I had bunion surgery a little over three months ago. Everyone kept saying that the tingling and sensations that I were feeling were normal and that they would go away eventually and then come back and then go away and then come back.

I was literally waving my arms saying something is wrong. Something is wrong and everyone was dismissing me.

I’m not even recovered from the surgery and now they’re talking about another surgery related to it and now I have this?

My husband has been caring for me for these three months when we should’ve been on our 30th wedding anniversary instead. It’s taking a toll on him. I could tell, and then I had to share the news of this diagnosis with today

He does not deserve this

I already suffer from anxiety and depression. I’ve spent the whole day reading up on this awful thing. I don’t even know what to call it. A disease? a hell hole? death sentence?

I don’t even know where to begin. I have no clue.

Depression and regret

I am three months out from my surgery and am in such pain. I am working remotely, cancelled all my summer plans and just sit in misery in my home. Had a talk with my surgeon today and told him last night was so bad that I wanted to cut off my foot… three month of this pain… laying awake in bed for hours and my brain won’t shut off with “what would my life be right now had I not done it’. Surgeon replied with something like “that’s so strange”. I wanted to jump through the phone.

Is this it? Does it get better? I see it does but if it is STILL THIS BAD, does it? I know everyone is different but I”m hoping that if I’m still in such much pain at this point that there can still be a change at some point. I’m starting to give up hope.

Issues with second toe post surgery

I am 12 weeks postop from my Chevron bunion surgery.

Slowly, I’ve been getting movement with my big toe. Thanks to PT and diligently doing my exercises.

My second toe, however, is stiff as a board no matter what I do. I can get very temporary relief once in a while after massaging quite a bit, but it always comes back.

It almost feels like I have a tight muscle or vein running from it down to the base of my foot near my ankle.

Has anyone else experienced this and were you able to fix it or resolve the problem somehow?

Looking for “deep” sneakers and shoes

Not sure how else to describe what I need.

I’m 11 weeks postop today. The swelling at the ball of my foot is with me pretty much all day except after icing.

They wanted me out of the boot at four weeks, but I cannot find shoes.

I have settled on a pair of hokas and took the footbed/insert out to give me a little more room. Not that great but doable. I think I would be doing better if I could find something that has a little more depth. I did get them in wide even though I normally wear a medium.

I’m also going to start needing some “normal” shoes if possible

I would so appreciate any recommendations if anyone else has had this problem and found anything that works.

Question for Rover sitters please.

Forgive the story… My house/pet sitter of 15 years is no longer available. So now I’m stressing trying to find someone that I can count on and trust to be in my home and care for my baby.

I go online into my area. I find someone who looks good has good reviews and repeat customers.

I reached out to her and we communicate a little bit and then she asks if she can call me. I say fine. We speak and click immediately. She give me her real number. I feel very comfortable with her and suggested a meet and greet.

She agrees to the meet and greet and also says that she’s available those days but… Tells me she’s going to decline those dates and that I should wait until we get closer for both the meet and greet and to rebook . She explains to me that this is because Rover will charge me now, but she won’t get paid until after such time as the sitting occurs.

It is six weeks out but I just wanted to make sure I have someone locked in that I am comfortable with.

This does raise a minor red flag for me but again… Lots of repeat visitors and good reviews. Should I be concerned?

I appreciate any advice and guidance!

Edit: thank you All for the responses and advice! I sincerely appreciate it. I have reached out and we are going to do a meet and greet this weekend.

I’m curious if it would be easier for you all if the site would actually allow people to do a checklist of their expectations and then you could just accept or decline based on that.

I hate that you all lose so much money. I have to deal with so much drama!

Just a girl looking for a sitter for my baby, that I can trust. 💕

Shoes after boot?

My surgeon and physical therapist wanted me out of the boot immediately, but I cannot get into a sneaker which is the goal. I’m wearing two different kinds of sandals off and on in the meantime because I’m still a little swollen. Has anyone else had a problem like this and what did you wear in the meantime?

I can’t move my big toe.

I am nine weeks postop from Chevron. I still cannot move my big toe and my second toe can move, but it is extremely sore and stiff when I do so. I’m in panic mode. I keep seeing posts where people got off of pain medication like on day three and I had to take half a hydrocodone a few nights ago. I understand everyone is different, but I feel like I should at least be able to move my toes freely now. Has this happened to anyone else for such a long period of time?

Charlotte water restrictions make no sense

I understand and respect the need for water restrictions at this time. What I don’t understand is that today is my “ assigned” day and it is currently 70° out. According to the restrictions, I need to wait until 6 PM when it is going to be 87° out. Makes much more sense that I should be able to water now versus later. Obviously not the end of the world, but I wish someone could make sense of this for me.

Still in pain am I OK?

I had bunion and Chevron surgery. I am only post day 16. Reading other posts I feel like I’m in more pain than I should be. It’s primarily at night and I still feel like there’s a big rubber band squeezing my big toe. Am I overreacting?
