F. Šmits is a young and talanted Latvian artist who has gained internation recognition with his photography projects.

While not in his official description, last year He collaborated with Oliver Tree doing a photo project in Latvia.

Filips Smits (b. 1996) is a Latvian photographic artist working with analogue photography and conceptual interventions in urban space. His practice explores how everyday rituals, chance encounters, and the psychology of the city can be staged into situations that shift perception and reveal hidden social architectures. Influenced by Situationist psychogeography and the dérive, he treats the city as a living organism where the visible and invisible constantly negotiate meaning. He holds a BA in Contemporary Fashion Photography from London College of Fashion and studied at Baltic Analog Lab. Smits is the winner of the FK Prize (Best Young Latvian Photographer) and a nominee for The Annual Art Award of Latvia (Ministry of Culture). He has presented solo exhibitions including Let’s Get Sun-Kissed (HELLERAU PORTRAITS, Dresden) and Rotterdam Photo Festival. His current work expands this research through cross-border collaborations, public interventions, and exhibitions across Europe.
