Is Crossroads [Brunch] Falling Off?

I’ve been eating at the WeHo location for years, I’m not new to the restaurant and this isn’t my first brunch there.

This weekend my friend and I were so underwhelmed with the offerings and quality. The Benedict was missing from the menu which felt weird. I ordered chicken and waffles and I got two 1/4 pieces of waffles with what looked like chicken nuggets on top. I’ve ordered this over the years and this just looked sad.

For $22 give me a whole waffle?

Worse, the potatoes on my plate and my friend’s Break The Fast had zero seasoning, the texture was that of day old reheated food and I asked my friend - are these Sysco frozen potatoes?

I got their email a few weeks back, come support, we need you. Their dinner and brunch has always been in my rotation. But honestly, it was really disappointing.

Isolated, off day or is anyone here feeling the same?

Stickers and tagged [Porsche 911 Dakar] at a burger joint, Austin, TX

Crap photos, best I could do given the parking spot, seen at Hopdoddy Burger on South Congress in ATX.

Anyone have info to share about the sharpie tags all over it?

A trick for better oat milk latte art that's helped me tons

The Trick: Swirl the milk for 10-20 seconds after steaming on a countertop, lightly tapping as needed.

The backstory: I've been pulling shots at home for nearly 20 years, currently with a Rocket Appartamento, using alt milk nearly as long and finally figuring out latte art around 2018. Since then, regardless of alt milk used, I always had the same problem, a base that wasn't mixed well and lack of sharp, defined edges in all latte art.

My preference for oat milk is Califia Farms Barista Blend, with Whole Foods 365 Oat Barista blend then Minor Figures, with Oatly last. I can only get Pacific Oat Barista Blend occasionally at a reasonable price, but it does perform well too!

There's a lot of room for improvement still, but a few months ago I caught a video somewhere of someone saying swirl for 20 seconds, let it cool slightly and really incorporate the micro bubbles after steaming. It has been a game changer for me, not only visually but the drinks taste better, too.

Hope this helps someone.

Edit: If anyone cares, I've got a few hundred videos with hits and misses in pouring from the last year https://www.youtube.com/@MikePanic/shorts

I’m not an alarmist and I don’t have any further context other than this email I received last night, but having closed the Calabasas December of 2024, the messaging here is clear.

LA restaurants are hard enough to keep afloat, elevated experiences even harder.

If you like Crossroads and don’t want to lose it, consider going. Even consider taking your non vegan friends to show them what is possible with a plant based meal.

I ate there last week and had most new items from the spring menu, def order the turnip dish!
