Tree City Sessions & Honoring The Vocalists

I was recently going through all the Tree City albums and developed my own personal artistic representation of each album.

Also, this is MY interpretation and is not meant to be official nor am I claiming this is what the band is doing. I’m just being a fanboy with my lists and thoughts.

When you look across all the Tree City Albums, I believe that when selecting the tracks, besides picking a fair amount between each era of DGD vocalists/support vocalist as some feature more of a specific singer than the other, they could also be honoring each singer in their own way:

Tree City Sessions 1 is honoring Will Swan as not only is this the premier TCS but Will does backing vocals across the entire album, has 3 tracks where he has a vocal section, he is the progenitor of Swancore as a whole being the first of his genre, and is balanced across all the main vocalists (Tillian Tracks: 4, Kurt Tracks: 4, Jonny Tracks: 4).

Tree City Sessions 2 is honoring Tillian Pearson as his tracks count the highest, it was the second to last album before his separation, and although it was fan-voted on which songs would be on the album it was still the decision of DGD to choose said tracks (Tillian Tracks: 11, Kurt Tracks: 2, Jonny Tracks: 2)

Tree City Sessions 3 is honoring Jon Mess, my favorite vocalist right next to Tillian. This one was tricky as it is also balanced for each era of DGD clean vocalists but I also noticed that for most of the tracks, there are central chorus and lyrics that show off Jon’s singing directly (Need Money, ending to Doom & Gloom, Bloodsucker etc.), his screaming vocals are more central as Will does not do as much backing screams and shreds on his guitar (per usual), and the colors of Need Money (pink & purple) that Jon sings about is focused on the cover art. (Tillian Tracks: 4, Kurt Tracks: 4, Jonny Tracks: 4)

Now if my interpretation were to be followed in any way then that means there are three more singers to do Tree City albums on (which I ironically also hope there will be at least 3 more Tree City Sessions as I love the concept) Here is what I believe the next three could be on:

Tree City Sessions 4 could honor Jonny Craig as their are still 18 tracks he was involved with that have not been used for TCS, more than Travis, and it would co-align with the 20th anniversary of Dance Gavin Dance in 2028 so it would be a cool legacy album with their OG singer (11 of 31 total tracks with Jonny Craig have been used)

Tree City Sessions 5 could honor Kurt Travis as their are still 13 tracks tracks he was involved with so it could blend with other Tillian and Andrew central tracks that haven’t been used and maybe even (hopefully) have Kurt feature in the album after being removed for a non-controversial reason and having collaborated on Shelf Life during Artificial Selection previously (13 of 23 total tracks with Kurt Travis have been used)

Tree City Sessions 6 could honor Andrew Wells as the gap between Pantheon to when 6 would drop would give him time to create more albums with Andrew as lead clean vocalist, the screaming vocals he performs could develop into including Secret Band and Eidola-style music, and it would further cement his era for all the fans that are still not on board (really?) with him being frontman. (0 of 15 total tracks with Andrew Wells have been used)

I know this is just me fanboying and feels like I’m pushing my vision of what I want but it’s just a cool thought experiment and I like making lists and looking at different perspectives. In conclusion, I love DGD, I love all their music, and I hope it’s a cool idea that you guys would like.

TL;DR: Each Tree City Sessions album focus on each singer/vocalist in their productions.

TIDAL Player Problems?

I don’t know if it’s just me but every other day, my DGD complete playlist keeps making tracks that previously worked unavailable with the issue being “The Record Label doesn’t permit playing this track” even though it had the music to begin with. Also, WISIRO is missing from their EPs and even DBM off their albums when it was clearly there orignally. I’ve already had to fix the entire playlist twice and I’m so pissed and done. Does anybody know why this is happening or is having an issue? I never had this problem when it was on Spotify
