Do American socialists believe it is necessary to abolish the constitution to achieve socialism? If so, why and if not, why not?

I listened to Revolutionary Left Radio and one of the hosts casually expressed how they wanted more socialists in office to advocate for the abolition of the US constitution.

Now, I'm not American but have been highly American coded (A very nice way of saying whitewashed, I suppose) and it came a shock to me. So my question is pretty simple but a few follow ups for those who do wish to abolish it is what part of the constitution makes it exploitative to the working class? What do you do with the bill of rights? Are we starting from scratch or do we keep some aspects of it, whether that be governance, the branches of power, elections, rights, etc.

And for those who don't believe in it's abolition: why?

If cops are class traitors, how do socialists address crime in capitalist societies and how do they maintain law and order in socialist societies?

In a previous post, I asked if cops are part of the proletariat. The overwhelming answer I got was "yes, but they are class traitors." Whilst my main question was answered, I didn't get a full explanation of how socialists move forward and address crimes and policing.

So my question is seperated into two. Addressing law enforcement and crimes in a capitalist society and addressing law enforcement and crimes in a socialist society.

Under capitalism, what do socialists do to reduce their relliance on cops or somehow utilize them for specific goals? How do we respond to crime rates? What policies do socialists in elected office propose and push for? And how should we organize as a community to resolve the issue of criminal activity?

Under socialism, would there be a police force? If so, what would they look like in terms of their conduct and duty and how they carry those out? How would socialists respond to deadly amd aggressive threats such as an active shooter situation, a hostage crises, etc? What laws would be considered unjust but is seen as normal in a capitalist society, where under socialism it would be abolished, repealed or wouldn't exist?

How does socialism approach global trade?

Recently, I listened to an episode on Revolutionary Left Radio and the hosts said that if socialists were elected in the US, especially in major offices, they need to actively dismantle America's imperialism which would include removing all sanctions and embargoes. This is a pretty interesting take for me, the idea that such actions are imperialistic. Me personally, I think sanctions and embargoes are necessary for certain countries such as Russia after their invasion of Ukraine and if we were able to, the state of Israel and their genocide in Gaza.

But I can see how this can be seen as imperialistic if we were to look at countries such as Venezuela and Cuba. And that got me thinking about global trade and socialism because most of the time, I've been focusing on how socialism will handle the domestic economy that it never really crossed my mind on how they would handle international economics.

So what is the socialist view of global trade? Is it capitalistic? Do they engage in it or remain isolationist? What are their views on tarrifs, embargoes, sanctions etc.? And how do we approach trade with nations that violate human rights such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, Russia, etc.?

I also want to point out that I'm not the smartest person when it comes to economics. So if I said anything that doesn't make sense, that is on me.

I would also appreciate some resources about this topic to learn further so if anybody could lend a hand, that'd be great.

Are cops part of the proletariat?

So, I used to be conservative and a huge supporter of the police. Now, I've left the conservative sphere and am moving to the left — albiet very slowly— I still have some conservative perceptions of the left that I wanna dismantle or address. One of those perceptions is the police. Before, I simply dismissed critique of police as a leftist fad when slogans like "defund the police" or even "abolish the police" have been trending. Even when I found that some of the critique against law enforcement were valid, it was through right wing influences like the Boogaloo Movement when I was leaning more libertarian.

As of my current view of the police, I'm very unsure. On one hand, the oppression they contribute will always remain collective as long as unjust laws exist. Plus, the entire qualified immunity and treating cops with special priviledges piss me off. On the other, I can't imagine a world where cops don't exist.

My curiosity towards police's place in regards to socialism is are they considered part of the working class? They work for wages like workers and they have unions like workers. Do they own the means of production? Because law enforcement institutions are maintained by tax payer money. A squad car, a firearm, a police station is considered government property, not private property. But they enforce laws in favor of capitalism and maybe even imperialism such as the case of the RCMP interventions in the Wet'Suwet'en Yintah to move forward with the Coastal GasLink pipeline, removing folks from private business for literally whatever reason in the US, and they break up protests and strikes, etc.

I'm mainly looking for answers within schools of thoughts that rely on the state since I'm curious how they address laws and ways to enforce them, compared to more decentralized, anarchist or socialist libertarian sects because I feel like I know their answer which are probably more abolitionist, ACAB-ist (not a word but whatever) basically "no, cops aren't proletarian." But I'd still welcome their answers too because maybe I could be wrong or maybe my assumptions are too reductive and oversimplified and I am glad to recieve some clarification.
