Castors cracking straight away?

Castors cracking straight away?

These are like a week old and it's already cracked. I'm not sure if it's the gravelly road I've been on or hitting the side of the pavement when it's cracked. These should be hard roll and they're aluminium. I feel like at this rate I can't get wheelchair services to change them more than yearly (I'm not sure how long they should last?) any advice? I'm told to not go on the beach which is fair but it feels unreasonable to avoid bad terrain.

What's the deal with Tilite castors?

So I'm looking at spare parts and I thought all tilites (at least ones that aren't like 10 years old) use R6 bearings instead of 608 like most scooters/wheelchairs. I'm seeing some stuff about 608 bearings though? Can someone explain? The potential of having castor axles of a diameter that isn't 8mm/ 5/16inch is putting me off Tilite a bit.

Will this hole be an issue?

Just noticed this on my tyre, I think I can see the puncture protection in my marathon plus tyre.

Anyone have experience with RGK inward taper backrest and push handles?

They don't seem to have an S taper option like most tapered backs I see (added example of panthera's as second picture). Can you get S taper with RGK? Push handles still seem to be an option but some aren't available with height adjustable back (this isn't a problem for me) but do the push handles end up being straight up or angled like the backrest if you get the taper?

Sailing gloves grip repair ideas?

These are made out of polyamide/polyurethane coating (?) I considered using some nitrile rubber or rubber dip for the hole. The grip seems to be some sort of coated fabric I can't figure out. These are £17 each and I use them for my wheelchair. They lasted longer than cycling gloves and are much grippier but I'd rather fix them than replace them.

Any real cons to scooter wheels?

I have a backup chair that currently has scooter wheels, I prefer the ride of the narrow hard roll over wide frog legs. Is there any pro to actually upgrading them to aluminium hard roll castors? The profile on them is usually a bit different and the rubber is more rounded on the scooter wheels but am I actually like "missing" anything from not having actual wheelchair castors? I know a lot of people like wide soft roll which isn't really a thing on generic scooter wheels but otherwise?

Slightly uneven wear and big ole crack

One of my tyres still has the little "hairs" from when you get new tyres and on one of my castors you can still faintly see the seam, funnily enough this is on opposite sides (right wheel and left castor). Right castor does have a crack in the rubber after 1 year or not even fully time use :/

Can you pay to replace parts on the NHS?

I'm calling about this this week hopefully after I didn't hear back from my emails. Long story short, Quickie/sunrise sent the wrong footplate to the one that was ordered for me. I got the one piece flip up footplate on the Life R instead of the standard fixed angle adjustable one. I'm going to try my best to get them to change it but obviously this isn't guaranteed. Can I offer to pay to get the part changed? I can't afford to do that right now but hopefully within a year if I can do that.

This feels like bad design but I feel like there has to be a reason for it? I'm used to one piece castor axles that have a bolt or nut on one end because they need to be removable but some have a bolt on either side? This feels pointless?
