Sister gave me an $1800 sweater in my least favorite color

She’s the sweetest woman on earth. She chose this with such love and care, and it’s the first time in her life that she’s been able to afford something so luxurious.

It’s Italian-made, boho-chic, bright colors, huge pattern. It’s a gorgeous, special piece.

But it’s not gorgeous on me. FML

Experienced hosts, please help me do the right thing (furniture damage)

I’m actually the guest in this situation, although I have been a host in the past.

I recently stayed with 3 other people at a very nice apartment, followed the rules precisely, and immediately left a 5 star review.

The host contacted me about 2 weeks after we left and sent a picture of a scratched dining chair. I think it’s quite likely that we are responsible for the damage. I have a pair of pants with metal zippers on the back pockets and I did wear those during our stay without thinking twice about it.

Now Airbnb has passed along the host’s request for reimbursement. She wants more than $450. She told me that Airbnb host insurance should cover it, and I should decline to pay, but she also said that she does not consider the damage to be normal wear and tear.

I just don’t know what to expect here. Is Airbnb likely to demand payment from me? I took the host’s advice and declined to pay, but idk what happens next.

I genuinely want to do the right thing, but this situation is bizarre to me. I’m willing to pay a reasonable repair cost, if it comes to that, but I don’t think I should be on the hook for full replacement value.

Would appreciate other opinions!!!
