No shower

There's no hot water yesterday. So I didn't shower. The tech was fixing it but there's no ETA.

Someone in our condo said the hot water came back early in the morning, before 6am.

Then this afternoon there's no hot water again! I was about to yell at someone: "Which idiot turn off the hot water again? Why don't they turn it off at midnight when nobody needs it?!" 😡

I'm trying to get in shape for an upcoming birthday trip. To motivate myself, I bought a hoodie I really wanted, but one size too small. Hoodie arrived yesterday and it fits perfectly.

I'm I allowed to return clothes because they fit?

Bought my partner a real e-reader for her birthday, but her birthday is only in two months so I have to let her strain her eyes reading on an iPad screen for a while

btw is it unethical for me to have her suffer when I have the cure? she really doesnt like early bd presents. she loves the ritual of gifts on birthday

Spent most of my time at my mom’s trying to make sure she doesn’t accidentally drink out of my water bottle because she has a communicable illness and somehow her water bottle ended up in my bag and I drank out of it.

This was 30 minutes ago and I’m still grossed out.

(UK - London) Choosing a home with great square footage but distance to central london or a home with a smaller sqft but in a great location within central london.

Basically the title.

There is also the added (well not really but you know what I mean) guilt when talking about this with friends who are still renting and cant even afford a deposit to purchase their first flat. I've shortlisted homes in areas that my budget allows that have great detached homes for the sqft (6000 sqft which for london and UK is huge) that it provides + catchment for good grammar schools but i'm having trouble balancing this against homes that are in arguably better postcodes but are much much smaller.

There are worse things to genuinely be losing sleep over, but the pros and cons of each home I have visited and done extensive insight into match one another. So yeah, it's been a month of feeling stuck and im not sure which to go with. Any of you been through something similar?

I shouldn’t have started reading this book

I’m leaving tomorrow to go to Thailand for a month on vacation. I started reading a really good novel about 3 days ago. I’m about 1/2 way through. I really don’t want to take the book with me on my trip but it’s too much for me to read before I go but not enough for it to last beyond a day or 2 into my trip. It’s a book I also want to keep so I don’t want to leave it in Thailand. I would much rather have taken a brand new unread book. I am also taking my kindle, so I’ll have plenty to read. I just hate lugging a book that I’ll finish quickly into a month long trip. Ugh.

Dozens of tote bags, none are the right size

I have amassed quite the collection of tote bags. Canvas, recycled plastic, durable, can be scrunched up super compact. None of them are the right size or shape for bringing 1 beach towel, a lunch bag, reusable water bottle and some sunscreens. They are either too tall, bottom is not flat, too big, too stretchy, too rigid, too small, have net like so stuff falls through, or too plastic-y. Some were purchased, some were free, some were deeply discounted, some were souvenirs, many are swag from random companies. I don't want to buy another tote bag because I literally have 25 to choose from, but I may have to bite the bullet.

I took my first Lyft ride the other day and had a *really* interesting conversation with my driver, but it only lasted for 12 minutes because that’s how close I live to the doctor’s office.

The ice dispenser on my buddy's fridge shot a cube at me and I don't know where it went.

I looked for an extra long time, but I draw the line at crouching down on a strange floor and looking under appliances.

The breading on my beef Wellington breaks apart sometimes

I was complaining at work that the ratio of bread to meat isn’t always equal when you’re cutting a beef Wellington 😅

didn’t occur to me until I said it how first world that sounds

I had a little too much to drink last night and during the Uber home I ordered a bunch of Prime Day stuff that I don't need. And its shipped already.

Dropped thousands so my kid could live his turtle camp dream and he got sick on day one

I spent a year listening to my kid talk about turtle camp like it was Disney World for reptiles. Finally pulled the trigger, drove across the state, paid $2,000 for an Airbnb, $500 for camp, and another small fortune in groceries and “necessary” vacation stuff.

He got sick on day one and we’ve been stuck in this Airbnb since.

Feels like this is the icing on the Murphy’s Law cake that has been this entire year.

The absolute worst thing about this British heatwave is that my cat doesn't want to cuddle

Didn't even sleep in my bed last night, now we're sitting in front of separate fans 💔 Hard to tell if it's sweat or tears pouring down my face

booked a michelin restaurant then found a better one

spent an hour scrolling through miami restaurants for our anniversary dinner. finally booked a place. felt good about it. closed the laptop.

then i saw a post about stubborn seed on reddit. looked at their website. now i want to go there instead. menu changes with the season. looks more interesting.

now i have to cancel the first reservation and book this one. but what if i find another place tomorrow. this is exhausting.

first world problems but still annoying.

My extremely neurotic and wealthy in-laws are sorting out their will. They are really weird and it's been a lot.

That's pretty much it. Years ago FIL said he was donating all his money to charity, and we were like okay cool. Now he's changed his mind and he's just so all over the place about it. And MIL is freaking out because she thinks they're saying she's going to die someday (I mean, I guess they are? I'm pretty sure she is?) and she thinks FIL is just trying to get at her money (she's been a housewife for four decades...)

And it's just so annoying being looped in on this. I know I should be thrilled that he's decided to leave us a metric crapload of money, but I feel like we already live comfortably and I would rather just not have the dysfunction.
