So close yet so far to the Platinum...

241 hours deep, finally making a start on the last group of unlimited challenges... reckon I'm still 20-30 hours from the Platinum though, grind is unreal with this game 😅 I tend to get bored of it after a while and have been on and off with Ride 5 since 2024 lol, I'll get that plat eventually 😂

Section 88...

So my licences expire today (3 year medical), applications sent off to DVLA for renewal (I have an email confirming this, waiting on the physical letter through the post), I'm now driving under Section 88. My employer is happy with the proof I've provided them. I'm confident I'm covered under Section 88, there's no medical reason I shouldn't be driving (ADHD etc is why I'm on a medical licence). I've spoken with my car insurance who are also happy and have confirmed I'm still insured...

But this is the first time I've been in the position of driving under S88 and I'm REALLY nervous about getting stopped etc. Is there anything else i should do to cover myself in case I get stopped for whatever reason (police/DVSA)? I'm gonna call my GP tomorrow and request confirmation I'm ok to drive however like I said there's no reason i shouldn't be driving, none of my conditions affect my ability to drive.

1.8T oil pressure warning

Got an '01 AUM, recently did a service and have been getting intermittent oil pressure warnings ever since... usually when gentle driving round town, between 1.5-2k RPM, or after a decent run and the revs are dropping again (70mph is 3k RPM, usually pops up when it drops back below 2k). The warning always clears itself after a few seconds and the car is running absolutely fine.

I've noticed my oil pressure sensor is leaking oil quite badly and I'm led to believe once its leaking oil through the sensor it's fair to say the sensor is dead and needs to be replaced?

Gone from 5w30 to 5w40 this time around, fully synthetic Shell Helix, VW 502.00 spec. Pick up pipe (and sump) were replaced just before Christmas by myself with genuine parts so I'm certain that's not the issue. Oil is changed every 6 months or so, always fully synthetic and always to VW spec. Oil pump was visually inspected when the sump was off but I didnt remove it, everything looked gravy but there's only so much you can see without removing the pump I guess 🤷‍♂️

Ordered an oil pressure test kit today, gonna be changing the sensor and doing a pressure test this weekend... is there anything else I should be aware of? I know the older 1.8Ts are prone to sludge but I've never noticed anything undesirable in my oil.

Can anyone advise what oil pressures are normal for a 1.8T please? In PSI not Bar preferably. Thanks!!

Drivers medical... who to use?

Im on a 3 year medical licence which is due for renewal end of next month... need to get my D4 done but my GP don't seem overly interested and apparently they charge a small fortune for "private work". Any recommendations on companies to use to get my medical done?

Are D4 Drivers any good? They only charge £58 and their closest place is 45 mins or so away from me. Or are there any other companies who will be able to get me in on short-ish notice (looking to get it booked from next week, ideally ASAP so I can get forms off to DVLA) and don't charge a bomb? Im in North East Lincolnshire, D4 Drivers closest to me are Hull or Lincoln. Don't mind driving an hour or so for a decent company/doctor.

I know the DVLA don't do things in a rush and I'm aware of Section 88 that will cover me until everything is processed, just need the forms gone and with them so things are in motion and then all being well I'm still covered to drive. I will be requesting a letter from the DVLA to cover my arse should it come to that!
