What am I doing bad to get a driving license ?

Hi guys. Been practicing multiple hours and took several lessons with my instructor to get a B driving license (car).

Once he told me I was ready, I could book an exam in Vaud. Failed it, and I don’t clearly know why. Examiner told me that was because my visual controls (RTI) weren’t consistent, whereas I did them all and never forgot them during my lessons.

Actually, the examiner wasn’t really paying attention to what I was doing. For example, during an overtake on the highway, I did my visual controls and when attempting to overtake, he told me that I didn’t look through the window (which I did).

So here I am with a first failure, not sure why, I don’t feel like I was really examined in a proper way. Moreover, I don’t even know what to focus on to get better since It seemed only regarding RTIs that I always do. Furthermore, even my instructor told me that there wasn’t anything more to work on as I have been practicing a lot and been really focused and calm while driving.

PS: I don’t know if it is linked to the fact that I booked the exam myself (had the authorisation of my instructor, I did it myself to quickly get an exam date as he was busy during the day with other lessons. It seemed that the booking doesn’t appear the same for the examiners depending on who’s booking, learner vs instructor)

Thanks for your time and your help
