Got told I’m in a “waiting list” after passing all exams — what does my application status mean?

Hi everyone, from the Philippines ako at nag-apply ako (walk-in) sa isang European company.

“You can wait for now because there are so many applicants. You are in the waiting list, we can’t give you a slot yet. You can go inter-island if you want, or you can wait, but it will take a long time.”

Any advice would really help.

Got told I’m in a “waiting list” after passing all exams — what does my application status mean?

Hi everyone, I’m from the Philippines and I recently applied (walk-in) to a European company.

I already passed all their exams and requirements, but after that the recruiter told me:

“You can wait for now because there are so many applicants. You are in the waiting list, we can’t give you a slot yet. You can go inter-island if you want, or you can wait, but it will take a long time.”

Now I’m confused about my actual status. Does this mean I’m accepted but just waiting for deployment? Or am I not officially hired yet and still just a backup candidate?

I’m not sure if I should keep waiting or start applying to other companies again. I don’t want to lose my chance here, but I also don’t want to waste time if I’m not actually guaranteed a position.

Has anyone experienced this kind of “waiting list” situation with agencies or overseas employers? What did it usually mean in your case?
