Is the Sirrus X 4.0 worth the extra money?

Can anyone speak to whether the Sirrus x 4.0 is worth the extra $476 vs the X 3.0? I found one left over about 3-4 hours away which I don’t mind driving. I’ve decided to not get the NOS 5.0 since towing isn’t suggested on it.

I’ve read mixed reviews about the FS 1.5, I’m more interested in the carbon fork and report saying it will absorb a little bit better than the aluminum fork on the X 3.0.

I’ll be riding mostly crushed limestone for what it’s worth.
My LBS has 2027 3.0 in stock, otherwise I’ll spend the better part of the day driving 3 hours away to pick up the 4.0. Mostly curious if you guys think it’s worth the extra almost $500(I can get 15% off on the 3.0).

Thanks in advance!

Where’s the best place to look for used bikes or NOS?

Planning on to pick up a 2027 Sirrus X 3.0 unless I can find a decently priced used X 4.0 or NOS 4.0? Are there any specific websites to look for used bikes? Marketplace by me doesn’t have anything.

2022 Sirrus x 5.0 or 2027 Sirrus X 3.0

I’m new to cycling, I have mostly crushed limestone trails and paved trails near me. I really liked the x 3.0 and decided on that but I found locally a 2022 x 5.0 for similar pricing. Is the 5.0 a better bike being 5 years behind in tech? Just looking for advice. Thank you all!

Looking for help on deciding a bike!

Hi All,
Little background. I’m looking to get “into” cycling. I have a rather active job but I’m still an overweight dad and want a new hobby to keep me more active. I used to love riding bikes in my teenage years as exercise. I’ve been doing my research. I’ve test ridden Trek, Giant and Specialized. Local to me I have 3 trail systems with more miles than I’m in shape to complete, all mostly consist of crushed limestone and some paved.

Schedule wise the way our jobs work, more often than I’ll be taking off from my house riding a few miles to the trails to get going and be back within reasonable time. I love the idea of mountain biking, I tried downhill and loved it but unfortunately I live in the flat plains lol. However there is a rather well known mountain bike trail system about 40 minutes from me. I’m too out of shape for it, plus don’t have a ton of time but having the potential opportunity to go sometime seems cool.

That said my two favorite and very different bikes I liked as far as riding so far have been the Specialized Rockhopper Comp and the Specialized Sirrus X 3.0.

The Sirrus as expected rode nice and smooth, seems to be a great hybrid bike. The rockhopper I was pleasantly surprised by how much nicer it seemed to ride compared to the Trek Marlin 5(seemed like less rolling resistance) but as expected it just was no where near as efficient as the Sirrus 3.

I really like the Sirrus, but the idea of having opportunity to MAYBE get to ride the MTB trails keeps me hesitant to get it if I just got the Rockhopper instead. I could cover a lot more distance on the Sirrus I feel. I feel majority of my riding will be those limestone trails and rarely getting to MTB.

Would I be dumb to get the rockhopper, I did like the idea of locking out the forks.
