Should it always bleed ?
Hey lovely people!
I’ve been doing microneedling at home using a rectangular stamp my dermatologist gave me after my first in-clinic session. She said I could reuse it 4-5 times before the needles go blunt . It has an adjustable needle depth, but I accidentally used it at 3 mm the first time without realizing and doing the same ever since .
Interestingly, I barely get any pinpricks or bleeding, which made me wonder if I’m just applying light pressure so only a small part of the needles is penetrating. My face develops a deep red flush for about 12 hours and is almost back to normal within 24 hours.
The results have been almost transformational for my skin, and I genuinely feel it’s helping restore collagen, so I’d love to keep doing it this way 😀
For those who microneedle at home or get it done professionally:
How do you know the treatment has been done correctly?
Does it always need to bleed to be effective?
Also, for those using retinol, how long do you stop before and after microneedling? I usually pause it 3–4 days before and resume about 5 days after.
