I just received my Dr Pen M8S pen, and it’s charged ready to go, waiting on Curenex serum to arrive. I’m also going to order some gloves and alcohol(which one do I get?) for the prepping of the areas. I’m very anxious to start, just because I don’t wanna f*CK up my face/skin 😅 so please send all of your tips, suggestions, post care, prep, advice and etc my way! Thank you all in advance! 🫶🏼
*My Fitzpatrick skin type is between 4 and 5.
Tretinoin user but will halt all actives 4-5 days before I decide to start.
I have PIH, but no active breakouts at the moment.
my doctor micro needled oatmeal into my face and it feels a bit bumpy will this go down
hi, I got micro needling plus prp done at a local clinic where I get my Botox and was surprised at how badly it hurt. I’m on day three after and still tender and super pink tho also now starting to peel (and still lots of pinpoint bleeding spots leftover). my plan was to get this done first time to supercharge then get a device to use at home but now am rethinking, is it supposed to hurt so badly? my neck is still so tender
Edit: im not still bleeding or I would have gone to the hospital. There are red marks all over my face where bleeding occurred. Also i have an extremely high tolerance for pain and did not take pain pills when i broke my back or got a hysterectomy. My face was numbed for the session. Afterwards it was extremely painful, way worse than a sunburn. Like, I had to sleep in a cardigan because i couldnt pull a t shirt over my face it was so tender.
Hello all. I am especially interested to know which Pen and products might provide improvement with bad smoker lines. I'm early 60s and have had laser C02 fractional on full face with emphases on mouth twice over 2 years. It does soften the lines but the effects wear off after about 9 months. I'm contemplating DIY MN for more ongoing results. Would love some feedback on what to expect the results to be, what depth to use and what would be good maintenance products to use routinely.
My entire face got severely darker after 1 session and has not lightened after 1 month. My esthetician said it’s probably because my skin doesn’t react well to microneedling so she won’t do it again and will try another route to brighten my skin. I did have good peeling but my skin is so darkened now so it’s hard to see a difference. Any advice? I
How long is everyone stopping their retinol before microneedling? And after treatment, how many days do you like to wait before starting actives again?
There's always lots of discussion on the topic of molecular weight and HA. Figured I'd share some resources on medical literature on low-molecular weight HA.
The purpose of this review was to explore the current science and utility of LMW-HA in clinical dermatology and provide an update on its use.
A PubMed search from 2003–2023 on LMW-HA was conducted to evaluate LMW-HA’s utility in clinical dermatology.
>Key Points
This paper provides a comprehensive review of low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (LMW-HA) and its emerging role in dermatology. While hyaluronic acid’s utility is well-established across various medical fields, LMW-HA’s unique properties, such as its antimicrobial effects and ability to penetrate the skin more effectively than its high molecular weight counterpart, present new avenues for clinical applications.
This scoping review synthesises a wide array of small but significant studies that highlight LMW-HA’s potential in treating conditions such as wound healing, post-procedural care, and ageing, as well as its promise in cosmetic dermatology.
By providing an up-to-date exploration of LMW-HA’s dermatologic uses, this paper serves as a foundation for future research and underscores the importance of continued investigation into the safety and efficacy of LMW-HA. As dermatologists seek novel treatments for common and challenging skin conditions, LMW-HA offers an exciting, well-tolerated option that may improve both medical and aesthetic outcomes in certain conditions.
>Results: Identified applications of LMW-HA in medical dermatology included treatment of acute and chronic wounds, rosacea, scars, and seborrhoeic dermatitis. Cosmetic applications of LMW and hybrid HA included treatment of skin ageing, enlarged pores, and skin laxity, as well as enhancement of skin hydration. Topical LMW-HA administration promoted healing after cosmetic procedures, chemical peels, and ingrown toenail surgery. Studies of topical and oral LMW-HA demonstrated adequate safety, and newer techniques of administration, such as needleless jet injection, are available.
>Conclusion: Exploration and understanding of the properties and benefits of LMW-HA are key to translating its usage in the clinical setting. Basic scientists and dermatologists have achieved substantial progress over the past two decades, and several applications of LMW-HA in dermatology were identified. Additional advantages of LMW-HA are worth exploring.

I have some acne scarring that’s really been bothering me. I’ve been told that CO2 laser is best, but while I’m quite pale, I’m a bit nervous about my risk for hyperpigmentation because I have a lot of that leftover from acne (and I’m worried that’ll mean I’ll be more prone to hyperpigmentation from the laser)
I was also thinking about RF microneedling, but I’d like dramatic results and heard that RF microneedling might not be that effective (and can also cause fat loss). Any insight would be appreciated!
Hello everyone 🤗, looking for advice on how to deal with my skin.
This is a close up high definition photo of my skin which should show you the nature of my problem well. For further info, I have oily sensitive skin, enlarged pores, scarring (though it's shallow) and historically reacted poorly to acids (they burn my face and doesn't really help)
Which treatment would you recommend? I think regular microneedling + exosomes would fit my situation, In fearful of lasers and chemical peela
I'm interested in purchasing a pen to do at home microneedling. I've looked through the threads, and I'm not wanting a dr.pen device, but am interested in these for use at home:
Anyone ever tried any of these and have an opinion on effectiveness? I like skin pen but not the price of going every couple months for $300+.
I got an IPL , GA peeling , and microneedling all in one session. I was concerned since all three are harsh treatments (i would say) but the dermatologist said it’s fine.. this is my skin on day 4, wondering if this is normal🥺 please helpp..
i had chicken pox a month ago , just this mark stayed black and a bit deep rest everything went off any suggestions ?im kinda worried on what to do is there some medicines to be taken
ps: any info would be appreciated
I am going to be doing some at home micro needling to help with collagen production, etc etc, but I usually use mandelic acid and benzyl peroxide and retinol for my actives, but I read online that you're not supposed to use active for two weeks before doing micro needling? Is that true?
How long after doing micro needling do I need to not use active ingredients on my skin?
Also, does anybody have any tips for not being so Reed after/healing well?
I did a series of three professional micro needling sessions at a derm office who used a anteage growth factor kit that included products to use after. I did them about 6 weeks apart starting early December. She said all I needed was an update in a year. I’m pretty happy with the results so far. It seems like people here do it on an ongoing basis. I’ve looked at doing it at home but I think I have more money than brains, patience and courage to do it myself. Does it make sense to do more sooner/more frequently? I am not one that has a realistic view of my appearance-the pictures from when I got carried away with do-it-myself tooth whitening are pretty funny how unnaturally white they were. My dentist cut me off on my whitener so I bought it off Amazon.
Thoughts? I had a facial last fall and said my concern was hyperpigmentation and she said I didn’t have any. I’m 63. The aesthetician said I had redness because my skin is thin so redness shows through. She suggested IPL.
Also, my Botox plastic surgeon who could upsell me on resurfacing or a facelift pretty easily said I was fine with Botox and a little filler. I even said I wa concerned around my lips and or lines. So three professionals who easily could have girl me a big upsell said I fine.
Should I just wait and go back in December or find someone else to do it.
I am very good with sunscreen and use pretty good skin care products.
For those who did microneedling with copper peptides + hyaluronic acid (HA), how were your results?
Did you notice:
Also curious:
Would love honest experiences, timelines, and age/skin type if you’re comfortable sharing.
Hello guys,
So im on my almost 4 weeks post op of deep micro needling with prp. At first i just thought its just a bruise but as time goes by it became noticeable i feel like it became discoloration. Is this normal? Is there a way or any topicals that can help to remove it? How long do you think it will gone? Can you share your healing process
Please advice 🙏
I got RF micro needling done for the first time in the end of March and it was completely healed in 5-7 days, this second time she said that she did more pokes and it was much more red and irritated, the redness is still there after 3 weeks and I’m starting to be concerned about it not going away. The above photo is from today 18 days after the treatment
Hey, I want to do at-home/self micro-needling regularly.
My Derm said I can safely do micro-needling at home, as long as it’s sanitary and one-time use each time (disposable). That said, do you guys have any recommendations of micro-needling devices/pens/products, whatever tools are used for this, that I can look into to purchase that are dermatologist approved and so that I can also double check it with my dermatologist.
I’ve done cosmetic things before without getting it approved by an MD and things went….. horrifically.
So now I want to do my own research AND also get it MD approved before doing ANYTHING to my face/skin or any cosmetic-related things. Please drop/name/link your recommendations so I can research and decide.
