Alqemi from Platinum Skincare

Has anyone tried the Alqemi micro-infusion tools (or another micro-infusion tool) from Platinum Skincare?

Since it has 30 needles I’m not sure if the needles will actually penetrate. And if they do penetrate, I’m not sure how the serum would penetrate the skin (unless the needles have a hollow center for the serum to travel down)?

Please give your thoughts on Mixto-infusion tools if you’ve tried this or another brand, thank you!

Chester Changes

Did the last patch include more ethical working conditions for Chester?

I may be mistaken but I thought Chester used to work OT (past 19:00) and Sundays?

What if I kind of need Chester to keep working late? Lol

Should Duolingo Spanish be restricted in the same way as other forms of screen time?

In general how do you handle educational screentime activities for your little one? Please include child’s age group!

Do toddlers without siblings have the ability to play independently?

If not, does that mean for most of the day you need to be engaging with toddler?

Debating Getting Paid Subscription

Did paying for a subscription make you use Duolingo more consistently?

I have a free account and currently I use my account for maybe a week and then drop the ball before starting up again. I feel guilty when I see all the reminders piling up.

Do you feel like the paid subscription is worth it? Or does it just make you feel guilty if you don’t use it?

Infant Daycare Stressful For Newborn? Daycare vs Nanny?

I’ll need to put my newborn in daycare the moment they turn 6 weeks due to my job.

Do newborns get stressed out hearing the crying of other newborns? For I know animals that experience lots of stress at animal shelters due to the presence of all the other cats and dogs.

I assumed that when comparing a daycare vs. nanny that daycare would be cheaper, is that correct? Is it usually significantly cheaper?

Maybelline Dream BB Fresh “SPF 30”

I wear a separate SPF but I put Maybelline Dream BB Fresh on top mostly for its iron oxides.

HOWEVER, does anyone find it suspicious that a BB cream with only *1.15% titanium dioxide* is rated SPF 30? My Cerave Mineral Sunscreen is also SPF 30 but it has 5.5% titanium dioxide and 10% zinc oxide. How can these two products both be SPF 30?

The normal caveat about SPF in BB creams or makeup is that you’re unlikely applying enough to get sufficient protection. (Because if we applied enough we would look ridiculous). But I still didn’t think a product can just lie about its SPF?

Or maybe companies can conduct less rigorous testing to inflate their SPF grading?

Elevated AFC

I’m 37 and my AFC was higher than expected (total AFC: 60). Google says a normal AFC depends on age (can be 3-30), and this study (https://www.fertstert.org/article/S0015-0282(99)00396-9/fulltext) says a normal total AFC in someone by age should be 10-15.

It sounds like AFC’s that are very high can be associated with PCOS. I don’t have any signs of PCOS that I know of and haven’t been diagnosed with PCOS previously.

I know a high AFC should be better for fertility, but I’m worried because how do I have SO MANY follicles. Like what’s going on here? How can I have more follicles than a 20 year old and that is still normal? Could I have undiagnosed PCOS? Has anyone here experienced something similar?

(I have an appointment but it’s a few weeks out so that’s why I’m asking the internet, I know this discussion is not medical advice).

ETA: no signs of androgen excess (no excess hair or resistant acne, BMI is normal (5’8, 136 lbs), no other health conditions) and my periods are regular.

ETA 2: AMH is 9 (reference range for females 35-39yo is 0.147-7.49. So it’s elevated (I thought my AMF was normal because they emailed me in my portal saying it’s normal but I guess it’s higher than normal according to the report)

Antral Follicle Count Very Elevated

Background:
37 female, BMI: 20.5 (5’8, 136 lbs). Occasional but unproblematic acne, no hirsutism, periods are regular (occur every 4 weeks, last 3-5 days). No prior pregnancies or miscarriages (have been on birth control and have not tried to conceive previously). Medical conditions: depression, sleep issues (no non-psychiatric medical history)

Concern:
I’m 37 and getting worked up for infertility preemptively due to my age (I haven’t started trying to conceive yet).

My AFC was higher than expected (total AFC: 60). Google says a normal AFC depends on age (can be 3-30), and this study (https://www.fertstert.org/article/S0015-0282(99)00396-9/fulltext) says a normal total AFC in someone by age should be 10-15.

Luminary Prenatals, Thoughts?

My post got banned on r/tryingforababy so hopefully I won’t get banned here! (Bummed they blocked my post after I had to lengthen it to meet their 700 minimum character requirement)

I’m just asking for thoughts from anyone who has tried/ considered trying these pricey gummies:

I’m 37 and this fall will be my/our first TTC.

I’m doing some proactive fertility testing, the clinic assigned education videos for us to watch. One of them recommends this brand’s expensive prenatal vitamins (they cost about $90 for 28 days of gummies, so $270 for 3 months).

They also have sperm support gummies and the videos assigned to my husband recommend those. I think they around the same price point.

Has anyone used these prenatal gummies and do you have any thoughts on them?

..So Alys’ angle is she wants dragon rider children and for Aemond to sire them?

Maybe she realizes she can’t keep Harrenhall without a household and gold to sustain it? So she wants to father Aemond’s children and be the Lady of the castle that way?

From a monetary standpoint this actually makes sense, but I was under the impression she wanted let the castle part of Harrenhall decay anyways and revive it as a Weirwood Tree Preserve idk

Sinon and Antinous

[Spoilers]

All right I just want to clarify that my understanding of the Sinon/Antinous incident is correct:

>!-Sinon pulls a 'stay home' peg during the draft

-Antinous pulls a 'go to war' peg

-Antinous persuades Sinon to trade places. In exchange Sinon's family will allegedly receive payment in compensation.

-Odysseus sees that Antinous and Sinon have switched pegs. Instead of calling Antinous out, his concern is how to protect the pride and reputation of Antinous' family. He tells Antinous' father that Antinous pulled the 'stay home' peg and was trying to take Sinon's place in the war, which is a lie.

-Since Antinous' father is not aware he owes a debt to Sinon's father, Sinon's family never receives payment.

-Sending a younger, poorer child in Antinous' place is okay with Odysseus because it is better military strategy to leave the coward at home. Protecting Antinous' father's pride and reputation is also more important than making Antinous' family publicly accountable to pay Sinon's family.

-The same man who think animals deserve a warning sound when hunting, who jumps back into a closing cave to help save his other soldiers, is okay with not telling Antinous' father the truth of what Antinous did. Because the reputation and pride of Antinous and his family is more important than Sinon's life or the livelihood of his shepherd father.!<

Resources

We decided at 37 that we do want to have a baby. My parents are deceased and my husband’s parents live in another country.

I feel relatively/somewhat informed about the conception/pregnancy process since we are working with a fertility doctor (I don’t have known fertility issues but I’m seeing one just in case since I’m in my late 30’s).

But regarding the actual newborn, my information how to prepare comes strictly from common sense and television. Like my common sense says in my 3rd trimester I should buy a crib, diapers, and food.

I wanted to ask people on this sub if there were more formal resources they recommend on preparing for a newborn? I have a type A personality and even though I know some people say ‘go with the flow’ or say ‘it’ll all come together’ I’m just not one of those people. I was also abandoned by my mother as a child and I have a deep fear of being an inadequate parent, which is another reason why it’s hard for me to just worry about preparing for a newborn later after I am pregnant.

My husband saw the pictured cat yesterday in the Munsen Hill Towers apartment parking lot in Falls Church. Posting here in case someone is looking for their cat. (Cat wasn’t wearing a collar).
