Searching for Female Woodbridge Roommate(s)

I’ll be starting a new job in Quantico, VA in September. I would love to find 1-2 female roommates to share a 2-3 bedroom house/townhome!

A little about me: I’m 25f and have 2 super friendly cats. I enjoy watching TV/movies, experimenting with sourdough, and trying new restaurants/activities. I’m trying to be more outdoorsy and would like to get into paddleboarding. Ideally, I’d love to become close friends and explore the area together.

📍 Areas: Woodbridge / Dumfries / Montclair / Potomac Mills / Stafford / Triangle

📅 Move-in: Early or mid-September

💰 Budget: Up to $1,500 per person, aiming for closer to $1,100 per person

I currently have a 3 bedroom place I like picked out that would be $3,000 total for 2-3 people. If you think we’d be a good fit, send me a message!

First Day of School (from a NOVA Bus Driver)

First Day of School is Monday! While we are all excited for beginning of a new school year there's a new thing this year to keep in mind...

You may have heard that a certain school system in our region is starting to have students swipe their student ID's to board and disembark school busses.

Imagine a metro card but for the Magic School Bus.

As you can imagine, this will probably go exactly the way things usually go around here... stressfully.

It will probably take a few weeks for the students (especially the elementary and pre K ones) to learn how to swipe on and off in a timely fashion.

So, if you see a school bus with its red flashing lights on and the stop sign extended seemingly stuck at a bus stop ... PLEASE cut everyone (the bus drivers, the parents at the bus stop, and especially the kids) SOME SLACK.

The bus is probably held up because 70+ elementary school students are learning how to be efficient future commuters.

ALSO. DO NOT RUN THE STOP SIGN! The COPS are going to (rightfully) get ya! It's a hefty fine and probably some points. And God forbid a child runs out into the street and gets hit. That's another wall of shit you don't want to drive into.

You can only pass if the bus is stopped on the opposite side of the road on a DIVIDED HIGHWAY (A SOLID raised median, usually concrete with or without grass on it) meaning, DOUBLED YELLOW LINES DO NOT COUNT.

IF THE BUS IS STOPPED with the sign extended and there is only a double yellow line separating the two directions of traffic, YOU MUST STOP!

Have a Great School Year!

Stay safe out there NOVA!

Software/IT Job Openings!

Hello!

My wife’s company, IDT (Innovative Defense Technologies), recently won a couple big contracts and they are urgently looking to hire software engineers, systems engineers, and cybersecurity specialists.

Their NOVA office is in Ballston. They have a great culture. Solid work-life balance, lots of young people and a really communal atmosphere. I can attest as a frequent participant in their Happy Hours.

Check out the openings at this referral link!

Some state that a clearance is required, but they may sponsor yours if you don’t have one and are a good fit.

SUV crashes into gas pipeline on Ox Road in Fairfax County

123 currently blocked both directions at Burke Center Parkway. Should be clearing up now but plan accordingly. If you're coming south on 123 you have to turn right and go down and turn left on the Parkway and that adds a good ten minutes.

Landlord entering house?

Hi everyone, I’m new to Northern Virginia, and I’m also young (early 20s)
This is my first time renting a home here. My landlord is nice, however I’ve noticed she pops by whenever she feels like, and it’s really beginning to irritate me
I looked it up, and she’s supposed to provide a 72 hour notice for maintenance that she’s having done on the home.
Yesterday, she called and told me she was having someone come to do some upkeeping on the house she wanted done. She gave me absolutely 0 notice. Infact, when she called to tell me, I looked outside and already saw their truck backing into the driveway.
She did not come herself yesterday, but previous times she’s entered our home with maintenance people with no warning whatsoever, she will call and tell us she’s outside. Is this legal?
If we have something we need her to fix, is she allowed to come to the house without warning? And if she’s just doing upkeep like painting etc, can she just come by/send maintenance without warning?
Tbh, it’s extremely stressful for me. I’m an introvert and absolutely do not like having people stop by, especially when I’m not expecting anyone

An-124 at IAD today

While driving on 66 eastbound today we saw an Antonov Airlines An-124 landing at Dulles about 13:25. Haven't seen one in person before; it was quite impressive. My wife's picture; I was driving.

He was wearing something to hide his face and had a bat in his hand and man did that scare me. He appeared out of nowhere, I almost pissed myself and got outta there asap. Anybody else who had the same experience at the late hour? cause that shit spooked tf outta me

School Board Responds to Former Theater Teacher’s Lawsuit

Is anyone following this suit? As a former student of his, I’m finding everything that’s been coming out to be sadly believable. The prior article outlines everything from his perspective but it’s obviously pretty skewed.
As someone who’s been out of LCPS for years now, it’s been a lot of information to catch up on from the last few years.

Pisco must be stopped

Can someone explain how Pisco is getting away with what looks like an insane number of fake reviews? They have 15.5K reviews and a 4.9 star rating despite only opening in Reston about three years ago.

And the rating makes even less sense considering the food in my experience has been below average and stale.

Idg how this place hasn’t been flagged for potential bot/fake reviews yet

SCC commissioner, former NextEra attorney declines to recuse herself from merger case

In the days preceding this week’s Energy Commission of Virginia meeting, legislators asked State Corporation Commission Chair Kelsey Bagot, a former attorney for NextEra Energy, to clarify if she planned to recuse herself from presiding over the $67 billion merger between Dominion and her former employer.

On Monday, Bagot replied that she saw no reason to do so...
