Scar from removal of seborrheic keratosis

I had two seborrheic keratosis removed from my lower pelvis. SK is basically a benign growth that looks sort of like a mole or a raised brown bump. Mine were getting larger so I wanted them removed for cosmetic reasons. My dermatologist used cryotherapy to freeze them and they fell off. However I’m left with this discoloration that is the same size as the SK was.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can lighten the dark areas? I’m self conscious about this being that I’m recently single and being intimate with men after a long time of no physical contact.

47f - how to improve skin texture and sagging

I am noticing my skin deteriorate slowly- enlarged pores, uneven texture and discoloration and sagging. What are my options - I am not keen on going under the knife at the moment as I do want to embrace growing older naturally . Are there any creams or potions that help. My routine at the moment is waleda and oil of Olay regenerist and spf ( beauty of joseon)
I just bought the ordinary hyaluronic acid that I just started a day ago. I used it before my regenrist at night and then add a layer of aquaphor
I might consider Botox but I am terrified of looking swollen and weird and I feel it might be a slippery slope. Also wouldn’t know where to go to get a subtle job done

Sorry for this odd pic - I tried to blur out my eyes and lips 😂

Any advice?

Hi I'm 40! I have rosacea and cannot use any retinol on my hyper sensitive skin. Any advice from similarly afflicted friends to find a rosacea safe routine? I use ivermectin when I have flares.

Update on the embarrassed tween!

I posted a little while ago about having a tween who was embarrassed to be seen with me. I was being facetious in the title but the heart of what I was trying to communicate was that I was looking for ways to feel a bit more confident about myself. I tried to link to the original post but I'm not sure if it worked. I'm not very familiar with doing that. My post history is visible for anyone that wants to see the original.

Original post

I received some very kind and helpful suggestions as well as some that were not so kind. To those that were suggesting I get rid of my daughter or punish her for expressing an opinion, you can go kick rocks. She's the most fabulous human that I know and I'll definitely be keeping her.

After reading through all of the feedback I made a couple small changes:

  1. I went to the top rated salon in my city and let the master stylist have complete freedom to cut my hair as he saw fit. I'm actually loving the result!

  2. Heatless curls are awesome, easy, and fun.

  3. I ordered some skincare stuff from The Ordinary (including sunscreen!!). I received lots of fabulous product recommendations but in the interest of keeping it simple I stuck with one product line and started with a very basic routine that's easy to keep up with. She has some basics from Bubble that she loves as well. My daughter and I now do our skin care routine twice a day and it has been so much fun to start and end the day hanging out with her. Rest assured that I will be keeping the bar of soap off my face and in the shower where it belongs!

  4. I signed both of us up for an Ipsy subscription. We received our first bags and it was fun to experiment. I actually really like a few of the new products! We are looking forward to our next bag to arrive and we have decided to have a monthly "girl's night" when we get them. I love that I now have a designated time with her to bond doing something she enjoys. It has opened the door for more conversations about self love and body positivity.

  5. I'm leaning into the tween embarrassment! Don't like it when I sing in the grocery store? Cool. Watch me do the Dougie on aisle 5! So far this is my favorite change.

Overall this has been a great opportunity for growth for me and hopefully for her too. I think it's a wonderful thing to learn from our children while also setting an example. I was really uncomfortable with all the attention that my first post received because I'm a fairly private and simple person. I've decided to leave it up and to provide an update because I know possibly somewhere out there is another mom that is in my position and wondering the same things. I hope that mom gets something from me being open and feeling very vulnerable with this process.

Lastly, my gray hair is here to stay! I'm going to rock it with pride. I do not fear aging, I fear being inauthentic to myself and my gray is a part of who I am.

Now I'm off to go play in my garden while feeling like a fabulous silver fox! Thanks Reddit!

48 years old, just started .1% tazarotene after years of tretinoin.

I am 48 years old and was finally able to stick to a regimen of tret after numerous failed attempts. The secret was starting very light with .025% and layering with hydration after applying tret. For me, that’s an oil. Currently using The Ordinary rosehip oil but any facial oil will work (I’ve used the range of oils from Vitner’s Daughter on the high end to The Ordinary on the low end. Doesn’t make much difference IMO as the tret is the real workhorse)

I cycled up over the years to .1% tret which is the strongest formulation and held there for a year. Learned about tazarotene, got a script from an online derm and started two weeks ago and amazingly no irritation. I also use the Coleman Compound which is one product I recommend to everyone. Somehow my face isn’t irritated layering those two products every night.

Bare faced post shower pic to show true skin texture and tone with no makeup. For those of you wanting to start tret but worried about irritation, start slow, start light and use the sandwich method with hydration. Layer hydration after tret or before or both. It’s 💯worth it. I’ve stopped wearing foundation and just dab a little concealer in spots and my natural skin shines through. I know we all hear how tret is the holy grail and after several failed attempts to get on a regimen that were derailed due to irritation I am finally on the other side after years of patience. I cannot believe I was able to start .1% tazarotene with no irritation and now after two weeks also layering in my Coleman compound.

Tret question

I read online that for anti-aging you do not have to move up from .025 tretinoin to a higher concentration. you can stay at .02 it will be just as beneficial.

Anecdotally did people find that moving up did offer more anti-aging benefits?

Second question: I’ve been using tret for a month at .025. I have stopped using any other skin product except for moisturizer while I adjust.

How long does it take before folks could use other products? Should I even bother with a chemical exfoliant or vitmain c or toner while using Tret? Are there some products that you would stay away from more than others?

Thank you for all your wisdom!

Broken capillaries question

How on earth do I get rid of all of these broken capillaries on my chin? My chin stays red because of them and is very oily. I am 50/f.

Is this hormonal? What can I do?

The picture only shows like half of my tiny pimples..

I’m 43, I have been on the Mirena IUD for 2 years. I started Testosterone cream this year as my blood test showed super low levels.

For the past few months I have noticed sooo many new small pimples on both sides of my chin. I’m guessing hormones are playing a role?

Let me know your thoughts.

Best peptides for anti-aging? And any other suggestions for my routine!

I'm 39 years old looking for the best peptide serum for anti-aging (fine lines, wrinkles). I do not have many fine lines or wrinkles yet, so this would be adding to my prevention routine.

Currently, I use medik8 liquid peptides serum, but for the price tag ($68), I'm just not loving it. Any suggestions for effective peptides would be great, or any suggestions for my routine at all! I have acne-prone, combination skin

Here is my routine right now

AM

rinse with water

Nimbuzin #9 toner (this is fine but not great)

Timeless vitamin c 20%

Medik8 liquid peptides

Dr.Reju-All - Advanced PDRN Rejuvenating Cream (this has a gel texture)

Dr. Althea 345 relief Cream (moisturizing enough for me and doesn't break me out)

Dr. Althea 345 relief Cream mist (as needed for added moisture or refresh throughout the day)

Dr. Althea - Green Tea Fresh Sunscreen (absolutely love this. Doesn't break me out and blends in so well)

PM

Double cleanse

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil

ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleanser (twice a week with

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser – Daily Exfoliating

Foaming Face Wash for some exfoliation)

Nimbuzin #9 toner

Medik8 liquid peptides

Dr.Reju-All - Advanced PDRN Rejuvenating Cream

Dr. Althea 345 relief Cream

Tretinoin .025- 3 times a week

Thank you in advance!

A little lesson learned from me.

Yesterday, I posted in this community asking for advice on how to improve my skin in my 40s. I included a selfie because I thought it would help people give more tailored recommendations.

I expected skincare advice. What I wasn’t expecting were comments criticising and judging my appearance. Whilst there were some genuinely helpful and kind replies, a surprising number were simply mean.

I was even accused of being AI… which, in fairness, I’ll choose to take as a compliment. 😂

To those who took the time to offer genuine advice, thank you. I really appreciated the suggestions about staying well hydrated, trying tanning drops rather than chasing the sun, paying more attention to what I put in my body, and focusing on healthy skin rather than perfect skin. I’ve taken a lot of those comments on board.

It’s easy to forget there’s a real person behind a photo. You never know what someone is carrying or what has prompted them to ask for help in the first place.

If someone asks for skincare advice, recommend a product, suggest a routine or share what’s worked for you. They haven’t asked to have their appearance picked apart.

Kindness costs nothing. Hopefully this is just a reminder that the way we speak to strangers online matters.
Lesson learned. ❤️

Eyebrow help, please!

Apologies to the Mods if this doesn’t fall into the skin care category, but I wasn’t really sure where to go for advice. I’m 45 and of course in the ‘90s I over-plucked my brows (mostly in the middle because I was terrified of having a “unibrow” 🤦‍♀️). As I’ve aged my brows have started to thin rapidly and they are very sparse and uneven. I don’t wear makeup every day and I am not very good at makeup application. What is the best route for having a professional map my brows and make them look fuller, closer together, and more even? Is it tinting? I hesitate to do anything tattoo related in case I don’t like the results. Thanks in advance!

Hand rejuvenation went wrong and I don’t know what to do.

About four months ago, I got hyperdiluted Radiesse on my hands, which ended up forming dozens of nodules.

I’ve had saline and sodium thiosulfate injections, but that only reduced the nodules by maybe another 10%. Neither of those treatments utilized mechanical dispersion, which I later read should have been done. It also seems like most injectors are not well trained in how to help clients with these kinds of complications.

After that, I had some Restylane Lyft put in my hands to help fill in some of the divots so the nodules wouldn’t show as much. But they still do. The white color from the Radiesse, along with the bumps themselves, makes it very obvious that something is wrong.

I’ve been holding a Lyma laser over the worst areas each night, which seems to be helping reduce some of the inflammatory aspect of the nodules. The nodules also aren’t as hard as they were several weeks ago, which is at least a little encouraging.

I’m wondering what my options are now. I could get a little more filler to address some of the remaining divots, but I don’t want my hands to end up looking too puffy. Another option would be something like PRF or PRP, so it wouldn’t be filler but might help rejuvenate the skin, improve elasticity, and provide some temporary volume. All these are $$$.

Any recommendations?

Destroyed my moisture barrier under eyes

I have blepharitis and used some tea tree wipes someone on reddit recommended- but while using them on my lash line I also used them under my eyes! Huge mistake! I killed at the moisture under my eyes! Now they are all dry and crepe-y! Especially when I wake up! How do I fix this? Had this happen to anyone else?

Skincare advice

I am a 43-year-old Asian woman, and I have never had a skincare routine before. Could you please suggest some basic skincare steps to help make my skin glow?

Improving lip texture

I feel like my lips are looking my shriveled/wrinkled as I get older. They are not dry, and I’m well hydrated. While I don’t necessarily want my lips to be bigger, I’m starting to wonder if a very small amount of lip filler is what I need to achieve lip smoothness?

Update on my search for better lip balm

A week or two ago, I asked for recs on better lip balm than Aquaphor because it doesn’t stay on and I got tired of reapplying it. After receiving over a hundred generous responses, I bought a few and they ALL last longer than Aquaphor!

Here’s what I landed on:

C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm - holy moly this actually lasts all night. I wear it every night now.

Burt’s Bees Renewing Lip Treatment - this one I keep in the bathroom to throw on in the morning.

Lanolips Lanostick - Lanolips was noticeably the most recommended, but most Lanolips products look like you have to apply with a finger, which is messy to me and I’ll only use a stick. The stick is a bit soft, so I just have to be careful with it, and it’s long lasting. I keep this one in my purse.

Tree Hut lip balm - also love this one, in watermelon scent.

I hope this helps someone else!

Eye area hyperpigmentation

I (f43) have had these dark circles with hyperpigmentation for years, I tried so many products but nothing works. How can I get rid of this? I’m considering cosmetic procedures at this point.
