Skincare for 70F?

I don’t know if any of this is a problem with the community rules -

I have sagging jowls and I do not want to get a facelift. I’m totally not into surgery. I’ve had cancer. The last thing I wanted to do is go under the knife again, so what do people do when they get older? I’ve already gone to the dermatologist and had all the brown spots removed from my face. I can’t remember exactly what it was that she did but some kind of machine that zaps them and then they peel off. And I am on a diet and using a GLP one, but it just seems to make me look more gaunt than anything else.

I do have a cream with hyralauric acid for fine lines but, tbh, those aren’t “fine”. And my eyes have horrible bags under them. And the texture is just terrible.

When I was decades younger I used Erno Laszlo products - not sure if that’s still made - but then stopped. Now I use just Olay cream from Costco (Have Much less disposable income now).

Anyone on here my age?

Why do loaf pans rust?

I’m hoping that somebody can tell why relatively new loaf pans are rusting? I do not put them in the dishwasher and have used them only once or twice and they are stored in a cabinet

How do I find a psychiatrist?

Near Cedars or UCLA - I have been on the phone for four hours today. Googled, called clinics, what the hell? One place had an address in Encino on Ventura but they are located in Folsom. One place is actually in the Midwest. UCLA is booked for new patients until April 2027?! And she was rude to boot.

I have a list from Blue Shield PPO but the numbers are all wrong and only go to the hospitals. No one has even heard of most of the physicians on the list. Are there no longer private psychiatrists any longer? I want to get ADHD medication but speak to a psychiatrist about my options. I’m considered geriatric. My mother died from Alzheimer’s. So I want to be careful. It’s absolutely bonkers.

Battery light red

I have a 2015 e-golf that I need to charge every night and have since 2019 with an extension cord (heavy duty I don’t know the type but it’s not one of the large ones from my husband’s grip supplies).

I thought it might be because it was very hot out today but it’s midnight and quite cool now so I plugged it in and immediately the light turned red. And then went in the house and went back out unplugged the charger from the cord and plugged it back in. The charger is still green, thankfully, but the car now is showing green, but it’s sort of turning on and off very slightly, you can see the green go from a great bright green to a lesser green sort of hovering.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Getting prepared

I make considerably more than my husband at my job. He’s retrained because his industry left town and frankly he’s too old to be working freelance on a nonunion film crew.

Our 401ks are about equal. I collect social security and he just started at 62. I’m almost 70. The deal we made when renovating (we had to because of water seepage) three years ago was I would take out social security and use that entire amount, minus Medicare, to cover the HELOC. However with him no longer making anything (his income was $10,000 last year) I’ve had to just pay the minimum on the HELOC to keep us afloat and it’s still not enough. We owe $300k on our home. It’s valued at $1.2m. He has medical insurance through Covered California but he told them my salary but not my social security when getting insurance so he was short about $25,000. Which meant we had to pay more than $7,000 because he was subsidized. So he has no income to speak of but because we are married filing jointly, his insurance is over $800/month.

I was thinking of using $35,000 I inherited in a separate account to pay all our expenses for the next few months and max out at work my 401k, so that our taxes would be reduced, but now I’m wondering IF we get divorced, which needs to happen for my sanity as we really don’t like each other, would he be entitled to part of my now bigger 401k in the divorce?

Help! Adjusted gross or taxable income?

In 2024 my husband and I made more money than we did in 2025 and we owed. However, he stopped working for most of 2025 and only made $10,000 as a 1099 worker because he was training for doing something else which actually didn’t pan out that well. So when my account said I had to make estimated payments, I said we don’t have enough income to make estimated payments fast forward to 2026 and my adjusted gross is 96,000 but my taxable income is 56 when he turned in our tax returns it said our tax was over $13,000 and I had paid a little over six and he assumed that we had made the estimated payments even though I told him we weren’t going to, but he said there was a mistake with his system and I put it in the calculation so he told me that we were getting money Back. Two days ago I get a letter from the IRS that agrees with his calculations only says because I never turned in the estimated taxes that I now owe over $7000.

What I don’t understand is why, when you Google how much tax you owe it’s based on the taxable income and not the adjusted gross income. So the amount I need to pay total is just shy of $7,000. And I’ve already paid that. I mean, how the hell can someone live on a net income of $56,000 or $59,000 whatever it is and pay $13,000 in tax on that?

Finding grants

Does anyone have extensive experience using Candid to research grants? I’ve been searching other similar orgs 990s but nowhere does it list - that I can find anyway- the grants they received and from which foundations. When it was the Foundation Center this info was very easy to find. There do not seem to be resource materials either. I have a paid account. Perhaps I’m going about this the wrong way? We are looking for new finders as there’s been a drop in individual giving.

I was on Ozempic as I have diabetes and it worked. However my eyesight was damaged so my doctor switched me to Mounjaro in January. I knew it was going to happen so when I switched insurance from Blue Shield to Aetna I told my agent to make sure it was covered and she said it was. It’s covered only up to 4 units. I am on the lowest dosage and ran out after four months when they said I can start up again in 2027!!! WTF?! How is this even legal? Do they stop people from taking chemotherapy because they’ve reached their maximum I was on the phone for two hours today then my endocrinologist was on for 45 minutes and it still hasn’t gone through approvals. I’ve now missed an entire week and my blood glucose levels are skyrocketing. I cannot tell you how pissed off I am and how screwed up this entire insurance racket operates. If I have one more person say I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I’m going to start drinking and I don’t even drink.
