Connecting a 1985 radio to an old Corolla

Warning: The original language is Russian.

Я получил её и она была снята с божественной AE86(в моих краях довольно редкий, но вполне осязаемый зверь).

What connectors do I need to feed speaker wires through my car door?

Hi everyone,

I'm doing some electrical work on my car (fitting speakers as my Suzuki Alto 2009 didn't come with any wiring into the doors). The door jamb is blocked by a plug (someone mentioned Molex but a Redditor said it's unlikely), and it seems I might be able to put crimp some female/male electrical connectors to the plug and feed the wire that way.

My question is - how do I know what size I need? How many sizes exist? I was looking at buying a kit that comes with a bunch of electrical connectors but I have no idea. The photo above isn't from my car but the exact same model on eBay. Someone on YouTube with a different car model used 'Term 635' and 'Term 618B' but the plug looks a bit different so I don't want to use that as a source of truth.

Based in UK if there are any stores or websites you'd recommend.

Thanks!

Alternator charging at 20v

First is a 65 Cadillac DeVille. So my battery kept dying and got a new one that it needed it was old. Then started a few times and dead so charged it and started fine but was charging 19-20 took to auto parts store the said it was my alternator. ok is old and I have a new one installed it same issue pissed thinking it was the alternator called the place I bought it from and the said it’s a bad regulator great that in the alternator. Fml lol instead found out it’s an external regulator so not pissed at the auto parts store that told me to change the alternator. Not mad figure everything it new so has to work I changed the regulator and ITS THE SAME ISSUE. So there is a lot of ways I can keep replacing 60 year old wiring but wanted to get some thoughts. Thanks all helpful suggestions are welcome.

2003 Renault Twingo 1 (C068) – multiple electrical faults

Hi, I'd like to ask for a second opinion before I start replacing parts. Symptoms seem connected. This post is written with help from AI as English is not my primary language, but it is factually correct, although I don't know some terms.

Symptoms:

Turn signals: intermittent. Sometimes don't activate, sometimes keep flashing 1–2 minutes after the stalk is turned off. Hazards and putting the stalk in the opposite direction don't stop a "stuck" signal – it only stops on its own. Stalk already replaced, connector checked (clean).

Hazards: always works correctly.

Turn signal clicking sound: missing ~20% of the time. When missing, hazards also have no sound. Returns on its own.

Front light dashboard indicators: the sidelight indicator was dead for the whole time I have the car. Yesterday after one random frustrated kick to the lower dash (around the fuse box) it started working. The low beam indicator used to light up normally, but after the kick and sidelight indicator litting up the low beam indicator was on as usual for a while, then after ~30 minutes of driving turned off and never came back on. Nothing I do makes it come back on. All the lightbulbs are okay, headlights and rear lights, but indicator is gone.

Not reproducible by pressing/kicking anywhere.

Brake lights: all 3 stay ON permanently when ignition is on. Off without a key. Lifting pedal manually against the switch doesn't turn them off. The switch looks fine and in position.

Both H4 low/high beam bulbs blown simultaneously. Replaced them.

Front fog lights not working (indicator lighting up, no lights) - possibly just a lightbulb issue, didn't look at it yet, as it is not that important right now.

Also, airbag warning light came on yesterday out of nowhere, but after I stopped, turned off the ignition, turned it back on and drove off, it disappeared and didn't appear yet.

The registration tag light was not working, so I changed the bulb socket itself, working now.

All fuses are okay, although there is 25A fuse on UCH (BCM?) instead of 20A fuse. Tried disconnecting the battery, but it didn't help.

What is working/okay:

Fuses

Lightbulbs

Rear lights

Rear fog lights

Tag light

Low/high beam lights

High beam indicator

Sidelights indicator

Sidelights

What it not working:

Brake lights

Low beam indicator

Turn signals

Airbag????

Front fog lights

Spoiler: My theory, so I don't interfere with your own thought process and answers:

>!I think it could be either:!<

>!a) UCH (BCM) not working correctly!<

>!b) short-circuit (maybe near the rear lights, there were parking sensors and camera connected to reverse light cable, but no fuses popped)!<

>!c) bad ground!<

>!d) car possessed by demon!<

I will be very grateful for every advice, as I want to give this car for free to a single mother in a difficult situation, yet I don't have the money to let someone fix it for me (also I'm an electrician with the 'tism, so I wanna do it myself, but I have a problem navigating car circuits and logic xd).

Electrical Fault That I Can't Diagnose

The cause

I own a 2015 Peugeot 308 GT 1.6 THP and the other day I wired in a Dixie horn admittedly a bit of a rush and stupid job and I couldn't find my switch to I wired the relay to a ground next to my battery the compressor pos to relay the relay pos to the battery terminal, the compressor ground I ran into the cabin and tapped it to another wire I had coming off a screw that mounts my glovebox.

My Findings

I've got loads of codes I will attach, All my fuses and relays are fine I have a month old battery that been tested and is healthy, the start has 12.7 volt at the permanent and a healthy ground whereas the signal only has 5.6-6.3 volts, through talking through ChatGPT I replaced the BSM/Fuse Box which did not work. I've took out and tested the starter and its fine.

Windshield washer pump voltage help!

I have a 1999 dodge ram, and the windshield washer pump stopped spraying. I replaced the pump, and tried spraying and nothing. I then tested with a voltmeter and it came out to only 9 volts when actuating. The connector looked old, so I bought a new connector and still only 9 volts. Any idea as to what is causing this? When I hooked it up directly to the battery, the pump works.

2008 f150 fuel pump intermittently losing ground signal from pcm

Had my fuel pump replaced then about a month later it wouldn’t start (very rough idle then dies), if I leave it for a while it will start again. The shop replace the fuel pump again and still happens, then they said that the fuel pump or driver module was intermittently losing ground signal from the PCM so they replaced the pcm. It still happens and they are just trying to throw parts at it. Any suggestions?

My power window motor died.

The power window motor on my 2010 sedan died last week. The dealer wants one hundred eighty dollars for a replacement.

I have seen the same motor on Alibaba, Amazon, and eBay for twenty five dollars. The cheap ones look identical in photos but I am worried about quality and fit.

Has anyone here bought a budget window motor from these marketplaces?

How long did it last?

I do not mind replacing it again in a few years if it saves me money now.

But I do not want it to fail in a month.

Also any tips on testing the motor before installing?

Would love your advice.

Wire harness - Replacing OEM

So a few years ago i was a dumbass and snipped the male harness on my Silverado when trying to install a new radio. Trying to fix finally and all the after market harnesses (shown plugged into old radio here) have more wires than are currently in use (see old harness in my sausage fingers) in my truck. What’s the move? Do I remove wires from the new harness to match the old ones by position? Any help is most appreciated.

Reversing Camera Failed on 2020 Corsa-e

As the title describes, the reversing camera on my 2020 Corsa E has stopped working. I'm wondering if this is a common fault and if the likely culprit is a faulty camera module or control module. I understand a definitive answer requires fault codes and investigation but before that I wanted to check on the experience of others. Although an electric vehicle I appreciate this is likely the same system across a range of models.

'67 Camaro horns

Finally trying to get my horn to work. Any helpful input would be appreciated.

I have tested the horns at the bat terminals and they work fine.

My first concern are the two terminals on the horn relay. Both are hot.

On the back side I have 12v at the green wire, nothing at the black and the relay buzzes like a door buzzer if I hold the test light on it.

When I connect the horns the relay clicks.

I have run a temp ground across the rag joint thinking maybe the horn button was stuck. This did not cause the horn to blow.

Best I can get is the relay to click.

Any advice?

Key Fob stops working and radio won’t turn off

2011 Highlander Intermittent problem. Radio won’t turn off and key fob stops working at the same time. Recently I noticed my key fob randomly won’t work. When it doesn’t work the radio stays on even though the car is turned off. The interior lights work as expected. I have disconnected the battery, pulled and replaced relevant fuses and reset the radio. The door switch works properly at least for the interior lights. As far as I can tell, it’s only the radio that stays on when I exit the car. I can manually lock the doors, but still the radio stays on. I have seen a couple of other reports of the same problem on the interweb but no solutions. The only thing I can think of is a relay going bad. Any suggestions? TIA

Rebuilding a wire harness, have some questions

Got a car on trade that i thought was cool, not running of course. I have a pretty good knowledge of electrical repairs but i want to make sure what i have in plan is sufficient

Car has multiple splices, spots where wire used to be tied in and the insulation is stripped, additional mods wired in. Just overall not healthy ans i knew the more i dug the worse itd get so i wanted to get it out of the way

I stripped the sheating EVERYWHERE got it down to bare insulated wire.and located a master terminal/pin/plug kit for this particular engine. The wire in place is all mostly oem woth the exception of one strand which ill figure out what exactly is shortly

Found alot more than i anticipated so i ordered

Heatshrink label maker

Terminal and plug kit

10 rolls of 50' of tefzel wire in different colors

Tesa Cloth tape

Saftey wire

Tesa fleece tape

Expandable wire sheating 1/4 1/2 3/4 and 1"

My questions are where wires tie together for grounds or powers or for whatever reason. Can i move them within reason, lengthen/shorten wires where i need to make a neater harness

My goal is to get the harness build with a quick release at the fire wall so i dont have to pull the interior side when i want to pull the motor, this is a later project though

I would like to replace all worn out connectors and broken wires with new counterparts. Then after that task is completed ill do one wrap of tesa tape(cloth) around the harness and wrap it with saftey wire so that i can shape the harness when i install to tuck it better and use clamps and such to make it clean. After the aafter wire itll get another layer of tesa tape(fleece) then have the sleeve installed with heat shrink to hold it in place.

All said and done its a simple project as im not overly modifying it id just like to make sure i can do what i need to neaten it because the factory runs them long wraps them up puts the connectors in strange spots.

Car is a 1995 eagle talon for reference not crazy old but nothing super new

Fuse tap issue size.

Hey I've got my 4 spotlights on a fuse tap to main beams to trigger the relay.

My issue is now I can't close the fuse box lid properly I could cut abit round it worst case scenario but thought I'd ask on here first as technically it's only splash resistant as there's a hole underneath that would fill up with water before getting in where the fuse tap is sticking out. (Hope I made sense)

It's only sticking out on the 90 , is there a different style of fuse tap ideally fuses ontop but the wire runs out the top also.
