Not legitimizing Lord Corlys’s sons was a huuuuuuge mistake by Rhaenyra

His wife gave her life defending Rhaenyra. The Velaryon Castle lies in ashes. The Velaryon fleet is destroyed. The Velaryons gave up so much supporting Rhaenyra. I’m dumbfounded by the stupidity of Rhaenyra’s choice. Lord Corlys has every right to be furious.

He could've sat it out. Because he fought for her, he lost his wife, his home, his fortune, and nearly his life. He asked for one thing. Go to hell, Rhaenyra.

The 3 episodes so far in season 3 were great television

Maybe its just the reddit hivemind, I dont know. Ive accepted that nothing will be book accurate and its still fantastic. Stop critiquing so much and start enjoying. Theres a lot of shitty television shows out there lately, and this is not one of them.

Does Mysaria’s accent annoy the crap out of anyone else? Like it’s so confusing to me and it’s not how the actor speaks in real life. Such an odd choice.

Emma D’Arcy's acting

I thought they did an amazing job last season, but episodes 2 and 3 of this season have made me think of them as one of the best actors I've seen. So much of this episode was based on Rhaenyra's facial expressions and reactions. Very impressive to watch.

Rhaenyra and Corlys (S3E3)

I’m confused about why Rhaenyra denied Corlys’ request to legitimize his bastards. At this point, isn’t Joffrey the only child left from her first marriage to Laenor? He’s now the heir to the Iron Throne, so he can’t inherit Velaryon lands and titles. So what does she have to lose by giving Corlys heirs after Jace’s and Luke’s deaths? Her children with Daemon have no claim to a Velaryon inheritance. The only argument that makes sense to me is if she thinks that Baela or Rhaena should be Corlys’ heirs first. (FYI I’ve read the books but I’m rusty on some of the details.)

Was there any other option Vizzy T had in this scene other than the choice he made?

I just watched the scene but I didn't notice the maester saying anything about any other thing they could have done other than cutting her open. He did say "leave it with the gods" but if she couldn't push the baby out what else is there to do?

Episode 3 opinions

No spoilers.

I really enjoyed the chaotic feel of this episode, as Rheanyera was in nearly every scene it acted IMO as an insight to her mental state. Cleverly done.

The real reason rhaenyra has no beef with her sister.

I've wondered if another more important reason that rhaenyra calls her sister sweet haelena is due to her claim being weaker than hers. I've never seen it ever mentioned in any discussions yet so I'm curious if other people have also thought of that

Why do some HotD and GoT fans have to pretend they are moraly superior by aplying modern standards to fictional charachters?

Its so annoying. Whenever anyone makes a post about any charachter you will find someone in the comments saying that the charachter is an evil monster and deserves everything bad that happens to them. Yes dude, aplying our modern standards of morality to FICTIONAL charachters in a FICTIONAL setting totally makes you super cool, woke and awesome. Its a book/tv show how are you capable of enjoying it while being incacapable of suspending disbelief?

Like obviously they are evil, but that is something that I NEVER think about while watching or reading any ASOIAF content.

Its a hill they are all willing to die on, and im just wondering how you enjoy the shows/books? Bc 95% of the charachters are evil by our standards and the ones that arent have like 2 mins of screen time or arent POV in the books.

Why people love Rhaenyra but hate Alicent?(season 1)

I have just finished Season 1 and want to understand the community's perspective on the two leading women.A lot of the fandom seems to fiercely support Team Black and hate Team Green, but looking at Rhaenyra and Alicent, both seem deeply flawed and complex-

Rhaenyra was namd heir, but she also breaks rules, lies about her children's parentage, and makes reckless choices that put her claim at risk.

Alicent usurps the throne, but she was also a victim of her father’s ambition, forced into a marriage, and genuinely believes she is protecting her children from execution.

Why does the community heavily favor Rhaenyra over Alicent when both characters have valid motivations and major flaws? If you support Team Black, what makes Alicent harder to sympathize with than Rhaenyra?

Please no major spoiler of season 2.
