So, what’s up with spoilers?

Back in the day when GoT was going on, even in the later seasons, spoilers were sacred and I remember people would get *fucking pissed* about them. You could lose friends over it lol.

Despite this sub having a rule about spoilers, in the community overall it seems like people just don’t care at all and the rule isn’t really enforced.

When did that change happen, and why?

hotd is a bad attempt at a feminist show

the thing that bothers me about ryan condal and his team is that they inherently force women into a box when they claim they are doing the opposite. as evil as she was, cersei was one of my favorite characters from got. she was a horrible person but we know she became that way due to growing up in a patriarchal society and noble circle. she learned how to use power and also her sexuality as manipulation to get what she wanted. basically the same as any other corrupt way a man would’ve tried to hold onto power as well. however, i don’t see rhaenyra or alicent doing anything to hold onto their power in the show. i was excited for alicent’s character especially in episode 7 of season 1 when she resembled her book version more but after that she reverts back to this idea of empathy towards rhaenyra despite her son losing an eye. and rhaenyra softly crying and being docile after the murder of her son is completely illogical. why can’t we see female rage? why are women supposed to cry prettily and look off into the distance (i’m
looking at you alicent in that lake scene) when they are supposed to be engaged? if anything it reinforces the idea that women have to be perfect all the time and can’t unleash “ugly” emotions.

and obviously on the flip side, it simplifies men, especially aegon who was ignored his entire life by his parents so obviously he has some mental issues and could’ve had negative people influencing his behavior as a teenager which could’ve lead to the SA stuff he did because his parents weren’t there to disclipine (besides a slap basically) and instill morals in him. but the point is that rhaenyra and aegon are both not great people in the books. they both do things that are harmful to other people. they weren’t born evil or good, they are nuanced individuals because they are both products of their environment and lived experiences, social structures. same with alicent and any other character in the show. the idea that rhaenyra or alicent would be forgiving to each other after what happened is completely insane and it ruins the entire build up of the first season. ryan condal tries so hard to empower women but instead limits them to what they can actually do in dire and live changing situations. this is why house of the dragon is a bad attempt at being a feminist show and isn’t empowering to women.

House of the Dragon Google AI Prediction

I asked Google AI to generate its hypothetical likely outcome for S3 E1 based off the pace of the show, and what's been confirmed.

Here's what it generated:

Episode 1: The Gathering Storm

Scene 1 (The Blockade): Night. Corlys Velaryon stands on the deck of his flagship. The horizon fills with the sails of the Triarchy fleet. Iron horns sound, signaling the start of the Battle of the Gullet.

Scene 2 (Dragonstone Council): Daylight. Rhaenyra receives an urgent raven about the naval ambush. She authorizes Jacaerys, Hugh Hammer, and Ulf White to fly out immediately to defend the fleet.

Scene 3 (The Sky Battle): Vermax, Vermithor, and Silverwing dive through the clouds, torching Triarchy ships. Amidst the chaos, a barrage of scorpion bolts strikes a dragon down, dragging its rider into the burning sea.

Scene 4 (The Wild Dragon): Cut to the mountains of the Vale. A starved, exhausted Rhaena Targaryen finally completes her hunt, successfully bonding with and taking her first wild, chaotic flight on Sheepstealer.

Scene 5 (The Aftermath): Rhaenyra stands on the cliffs of Dragonstone as the surviving dragons return. Jace is missing. Her grief turns to blinding rage. She turns to Daemon and says, "No more peace. We take the capital."

What do you guys think?

Any continuity errors within this?

Most of all, do you disagree?

Why do y'all watch hotd??

This is a genuine question specifically to the people that don't like the show, why do you keep watching, if you know you're not gonna like it, and that it's just gonna make you mad, wanting to "finish what you started" can't be THAT important to the point of putting up with something that you know it's just gonna be annoying to you, I can only think of "hate watching" which is such a weird thing to do, why are you wasting your time??

Looking for a fic - Aegon ii eaten by pigs HOTD

Looking for a fic, can't remember the name, but Rhaenyra and Daemon are dealing with the Green faction, and Aegon is killed in a brothel or tavern he's visiting, and his corpse is fed to pigs.

Later, when Daemon is pushed to investigate, he has the Goldcloaks bring the three pigs into the castle as the "accused" and proposes to execute them.

Should Hegseth be the secretary of department of war, or the secretary of the department of sexy?

Every time Hegseth discusses the military might of the United States, I think, Hegseth for president in 2028. Who’s with me?

He protrudes ăn air of masculinity that invokes confidence in American citizens—never mind the Iran debacle if Hegseth is overseeing it.

Hegseth, 2028. America, number 1.

Hotd fans can't handle fans calling out their favorite characters

You see it time and time again, it's awful on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr but especially here, fans cannot handle someone calling out anything nasty that their favorite character has done. They will get so defensive and not be able to accept anything being said all they will do is turn around and say "yeah but this other character..." Or literally anything else that distracts from the main point, and it's also 99% of the time something that they do for male characters like Aegon, Aerion, Criston, Daemon, it's nasty. And this is all with book stuff not just show related things, bc with hotd people might want to say that it was changed for the show but most of it in this case wasn't, even in hotd, what they are in the books they are in the show too

Aegon has always been a r*pist

I'm keeping this short bc it's in response to some stuff I'm seeing in another post of mine and I'm dumbfounded lmao.

Y'all do know that Aegon was always a rapist, the show did not make that up for shits and giggles, that's something that he is in the book as well, and I still don't understand why y'all love to ignore that

Am I tripping ?

I started recently watching reactions to HOTD. When I got to ep-6,7 they had mentioned Aegon and Helaena where
betrothed but they never showed a scene or nothing so I was confused. The reason why I was confused was because when it had first come out i remember there being a scene somewhere in between ep6, and 7. So when I was watching the reactions and didn’t see that scene I was thrown off.
I’m not sure why but I have a distinct memory of a scene where king viserys is arguing or somthing with Queen Alicent, and he angrily tells her that he will wed Aegon to Helaena.
Not sure if they took it out, or if I’m just mistaking it.

Rhaenyra is about to become the villain and the r*pist will become the hero

I think I've seen a few people talk about this, not sure if it was on here but I just had a conversation about it and I wanted to hear your thoughts.

By the looks of the trailer, leaked photos (the most recent one of Rhaenyra with Baela) and interviews, it's starting to look like the show is being taken down the route of Rhaenyra is the villain and Aegon gets a redemption arc. In the books Rhaenyra was always supposed to "go mad with grief" and become more cruel and I'm so here for that, I completely support Rhaenyra being more ruthless and mean, but not to the point where she becomes THE villain.

Bc in interviews it has been alluded that Rhaenyra would almost be a "religious cult leader" but during interviews as well, the actor that plays Aegon has alluded to Aegon being redeemed, and there's so many things wrong with that, and I'm completely aware that the show is not really following the book, but I would hope that they didn't erase the main motivation and the whole meaning as to why Rhaenyra is now having to fight this war.

It has always been made clear that this all started bc of misogyny, people did not want a woman to rule, that is the one thing that no matter how many changes they decide to do in the show, this should not change bc it's what the whole thing stands on, so to now turn around and on a story that was about misogyny make a rapist come out as the hero it's misogynistic in itself, obviously in the end we know what happens in the story and that should stay the same and I'm not saying that needs changing obviously, but what also does not need changing is making a character that was never seen as a hero now seen as one especially considering what he is, and dragging a woman while doing that is insane.

It's another case of making women the villain so men can be heros

Edit: let me already make one thing clear bc with only three responses to this post I can already tell that either people can't read correctly or they don't read everything. I DO want Rhaenyra to become more ruthless, that's not the point here the point is the redemption arc to the literal rapist, which yes Aegon is even in the books, Dyanna was an added character by the show but in the books he was already everything that he was portrayed to be in the show, an abuser and rapist, what the show did was add a named victim and that's it

My apparently controversial takes?

I made this story stating my opinion on the show and I did not expect all the pushback that I got😭😭 I’m talking people saying that I can’t be team black and think positively towards the greens? and my hb’s defending daemon and getting offended that I said that his morale is not great. so are these takes acc that controversial😅
