Games that scratch the same itch as Discounty

Hey people,

I've been playing Discounty for the last week and I'm in Chapter 4, so probably near the end. I loved the gameplay around the shop. Ordering items, structuring your shop so people buy more stuff, refilling the shelfs and managing the register. Trying to maximize profits and optimize store management scratched an itch that is not yet satiated.

Do any of you have recommendations for games that might feed my urge for profit? I already played Stardew Valley and Graveyard Keeper, where the farming/graveyard management mechanics kind of activated the same neurons, so I'd be happy to hear what else could quench my thirst.

My Final Quest

>!So after playing through once and choosing to rebuild Blomkest and go SUBLIME.. Solruna now has some quests for us which include: A Real Shopkeeper & Discounty Profit!<

>!I managed to get the others done by completing 5 Fulfillment Orders then after Solruna wants you to complete 7 of them. Now she wants me to complete 10 of them!! 😭😫 As if I wasn't having a hard enough time 🤣!<

I'm getting a bit overstimulated because the time goes by faster during our shift at Discounty and I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off when I'm trying to fulfill the orders 🤭🤭

I bring all this up to ask for those that have gotten to this point what methods did you use to fulfill all those orders? Because you practically have to ignore the customers and push to focus SOLELY on the orders which I don't like doing, might be the perfectionist in me, idk 🤷‍♀️

Please let me know what methods you used to complete this quest 🫶

Blomkest? I thought it was Bloomkest.

Discounty finally hit mobile phones tonight so guess I’m playing this while on night shift at the 24 hour supermarket I work at. The irony of it lol.

Do you really have to shred the papers?

I recently started a second play through only a few days into my first, after having the sudden realization that I could have given the incriminating papers to Cornelius…

Except… it seems I CANT give the papers to Cornelius, even after playing back to that point.

Is there really nothing but shredding them to be done?

Small Rant

I'm getting tired of these crashes on Switch 2, it keeps happening at the end of the day and just recently happened after I reorganized my store! Also, am I the only one who thinks the time goes by kinda fast?!

Stick to the stuff you know achievement

Hi, just achievement hunting on steam and this one is to complete without helping sublime or Tammy. Anyone know how to do this one?

“everything” store inspired by previous post

this one is inspired by this post but i modified it a bit and managed to get everything in and everything boosted!

i still want to make everything a little cuter, and right now i have a few duplicates bc im trying to clear out some backstock that is making my storage situation… difficult 😅

the upper right hand corner was tricky bc you would think you could utilize that corner fully but NOPE. anyway i did figure it out and was able to put more things there than before so hey it worked out!

but yeah let me know what you think! i’ll post again when it looks a little cuter, i need to get the blueprint for golden boxes and figure out how to decorate bc i love the little plants ☺️

Rotating furniture?

Silly question but is there a way to rotate the furniture? For example, the couch. I assume they only face one way but I want to get multiple facing different directions.

Thoughts on People or Profit update- console

I've played through the main story a few times now. I had no complaints before, other than the rat quest is a bit ambiguous and comes late.

Ive got 2 saves going, one for each main big path choices. Mostly played "for the people" one.

Pros:

Story content- new and clearly different personalities for the new additions. Fits with existing story

the expanded recycling- gives more variety and makes so much sense with the story.

The *idea* of humane work requirements of Chester

New items

Cons:

SO many items. This causes issues, explained more later.

Chester isn't as helpful. With the more limited hours and Sunday's off, AND all the new items stocking is no longer relaxing and eats time. I think we should've been able to hire Grace or someone else to help meet our Supermarket dreams.

Days feel too short now if you get a few more items than the main story. Let alone trying to do all the new quests.

Pathing while shopping. The customers already had issues getting back to the big coolers or not seeing items right next to them. This is worse with more items, especially if you don't have the deepest bins to minimize the amount of them, or theyre stacked vertically.

Pockets/item stacking. The stack of 5 limit makes them feel up so fast between picking up trade deal items and the new recyclables. Wouldn't be such an issue if days were longer or if the stacks could be bigger than 5. I causally get more than 5 drift wood at the Harbor often. I know it could be too big of an ask for bigger stacks so I'd take 2-3 more pockets. Could fill the bottom of the screen though doing that.

I'm still enjoying it but it's about as relaxing as the first year in a stardew like game. I also swear there use to be a backdoor to the shop that came with an expansion but I may be misremembering that. The devs are doing a good job fixing bugs and making the game in general, so I'm not going anywhere. Anything else that you've noticed?

Chester Changes

Did the last patch include more ethical working conditions for Chester?

I may be mistaken but I thought Chester used to work OT (past 19:00) and Sundays?

What if I kind of need Chester to keep working late? Lol

Anybody decided to turn into some kind of specialty store instead of selling every possible item?

The idea of having to organize and stock every single item stresses me the eff out, so I am thinking of going the complete opposite route and stocking only a limited number of items built around some kind of specialization. The leading candidate right now is selling only items from local vendors, but I might also do the "whole foods" route and only sell produce, meat, and unprocessed seafood. Anybody else do something like this, and if so, how did you like it and was it successful?

Chester holding onto items

Does anyone know how to deal with Chester holding onto items? I think I accidentally restock items that Chester is about to restock but he doesn’t end up putting the items back. I’ve tried waiting for the items to be sold out so he can restock the items he’s holding onto but nothing happens. I don’t mind just purchasing more stock but it’s making me go crazy seeing that I have 20 pieces of detergent in stock but I don’t see it anywhere!

What are your most popular products?

Fancy displays, optimised layouts and perks aside, are there any products your customers seem to buy more than others?

For example, my customers LOVE tissue roll and shampoo. Yes I have a household goods display but I also have one for every type of item.
They sell out so fast for me so I’ve stocked extra of these to make sure I don’t run out. I’m curious if anyone experiences the same or with other products and don’t know why?

I guess my customers have good fibre intake at least! 😅

I was able to set up my store with "all" the items

It's a little messy, but this game tests my OCD and I think it's good for me. This expansion is tiny, which makes me sad, because I missed the game. Did you get the sad or happy ending?

Fully Stocked trophy bugged?

I’ve unlocked all the wares in the rewards program but the trophy is not popping. I’ve double checked all 4 vendors, triple checked that I have everything unlocked up until “superstore” section of the rewards. Am I missing something or is this trophy bugging for me?

Can't complete Plant or Plant quest glitch

When I finally figured out how to make the skog frogs appear, it was already 9am and the game warned me to go open shop.

I thought I could see 1 more before the 9:15am deadline. But, the skog frog appeared RIGHT before the game's prompt sent me to the shop.

That would have been all 3 sightings to complete the quest, but it's still telling me I only saw 2/3.

I think it's not spawning again since it technically already did, but it also never updated the quest to move forward. There are no more stumps with beams of light. I've stood next to basically every stump around the lake and nothing.

Any advice? thx
