Do you have a choice with NHS IVF protocol?

Hi, to anyone who has had IVF on the NHS, have you had any input on the second round when the first didn't go well? Did they change the medication or protocol slightly? Thanks

Can Anastrozole cause such a difference??

Hi all, I would like to get your opinion on our situation.

Male 32yo, almost 33. Healthy, go to the gym, never smoked or taken any drugs, decent muscle mass, used to be a very light social drinker but stopped completely 2-3 years ago when we decided we wanted to try for a baby. Wife 33yr, almost 34, healthy other than has a unicornuate uterus but two ovaries. Regular painless cycles with ovulation.

After 6 months of trying I had semen analysis and results were as follows:

Volume 4.35ml

Concentration: 12.88ml

Morphology 6%

Total motile: 40%

Around the same time: blood test normal,  testosterone 16.7 nmol/L

Told to keep trying. After another 3-4 months of nothing, had NHS semen analysis and that showed:

Volume 5.2ml

Concentration 8.2ml

Motility 24%

Morphology 2%

With this we got on the NHS waiting list for IVF ICSI. And in the meantime went to see Professor Jonathan Ramsay. DNA fragmentation was 7.55% outside nornal range, 37% high fragmentation and only 24% normal. Ultrasound all fine. He said he can only recommend ICSI with Zymot and to try Anastrozole for 3 months. After about 4 weeks of taking it, we went for a private IVF round with Zymot and sperm results were 25ml concentration and 30% morphology, after Zymot 3ml and 87% morphology. Improved results, that resulted in 5 blastocysts.

Now NHS waiting list came up and we went for it, and the results are devastating. Out of 10 eggs retrived, 7 were mature and only 2 fertilised. 4 eggs the sperm couldn't fertilise. Sperm results were: concentration 11ml, volume 3ml, motility 34%, morphology 4% and after Zymot concentration 0.4ml, motility 94%, morphology 4%.

We take supplements, CoQ10 keneca Ubiquinol, vitamin E, zinc, magnesium, omega 3, folic acid, eat all meals cooked at home, reduced plastic in the kitchen as much as possible. Could Anastrozole have made such a difference?

Thank you for taking your time and we appreciate any suggestions 💔

Second IVF - different results

Hi ladie, I've had my second egg retrieval today and they got 10 eggs with 7 mature. It's not the worst result but my first retrieval resulted in 24 eggs and 14 mature with 5 made it to blastocyst stage. The protocol was very similar, first only with FSH and second FSH and a bit of LH (Meriofert and Ovalea). Same trigger shot of HCG. The only difference was number of stim days - 11 first vs 9 second round. I think I'm less overstimulated though.

Other than a unicornuate uterus I don't have anything else known. First FET resulted in 7 week missed miscarriage. Almost 34yo and AMH 17.4 pmol/L.

Has anyone experienced similar results and still had some blastocysts to use/freeze? 🥹
