This is why having the senate is so important. Blanche is in, but we don’t know who they will put up next. They are full court pressing, Obergefell is next I have no doubt.

JVL, like always, is right. The burrito discourse isn’t really about the price of a chipotle burrito, but it’s part of it. Just like the woman who asked Clinton about the debt wasn’t actually asking about the debt, this is about affordability. And right now that is something that if you can find answers for people will vote for you.

On the whole “back in my day we ate raw ramen for a few years like real men” my response is yeah many of us are cutting corners and cutting back (some aren’t) but back in your day the whole economy wasn’t a monthly subscription and if you ate ramen for four years it was likely that you could then afford the burrito whereas now the burrito will still be expensive and a sizable portion of your daily pay even after the four years of pinching pennies. And it’s a burrito, not some luxury item.

Our economy grows in the 1-3% range every year, but the wealth growth of the top 1% has grown so much that the 1% have as much money as the “bottom” 90%. The wealthy aren’t just getting their wealth from economic growth, they are getting it from the rest of us.

After Dr. El-Sayed’s victory, the group is unbowed and now appears willing to put what is expected to be tens of millions of dollars behind Mike Rogers, the Republican, as some of AIPAC’s major backers are urging, according to a half dozen people who have spoken with the group’s leaders.
In a statement, AIPAC suggested its supporters would be involved in the general election without laying out specific plans. “Our members remain determined to ensure that voters reject Dr. El-Sayed and his radical anti-Israel agenda in November,” said Deryn Sousa, a spokeswoman for AIPAC.”

Just more proof that AIPAC doesn’t care if you are a Republican or Democrat. We shouldn’t have ANY political groups in this country that doesn’t stand on policy other than “support country X”

Article touches on how elder Americans have a massive hold on our political system, but the rich (especially the oligarchs in tech) are starting to realize they can’t control us with the apps and phones anymore. They are so scared of people stopping them from doing what they want and actually taxing them to where they are hovering up larger and larger parts of the wealth, that I think we will see more and more of this rhetoric.

Pulled a lot from the article itself which is worth a read, but this could shape up to be another Harris on Gaza in Michigan, and without Michigan I put the chances of taking the senate at becoming bleak.

This also raises a question again for me, are people going to vote for a centrist Stevens or a conservative Rodgers? Not that I think El-Sayad is a slam dunk win, far from it, but with outside money coming in 12-1 for Stevens, I wonder how much of that will continue into the general, switch to Rodgers, or just not materialize. Currently (according to open secrets) Stevens has like $3M on hand, so probably not enough for a general election so she will need more injected should she win. I will say I’m with JVL in that there is just something about her that makes me think “she did debate, model UN, and has been planning her presidential campaign since she was fifteen” so she rubs me a little wrong.

Some Jewish Democratic leaders in the state are prepared to go even further. Several prominent Metro Detroit Jews who have traditionally fundraised for Democrats are also planning fundraisers for the presumptive GOP nominee, former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, as a “hedge.” Others are planning to help him if El-Sayed wins the Democratic nomination, one Jew who is close to the Stevens campaign told JTA.

Others affirmed the idea that the Jewish Democratic donor class, feeling abandoned by the party, would back Rogers.

“There are leaders in our Jewish community who are longtime, lifelong Democrats and Democratic fundraisers, who are very concerned with where their party’s going,” said Dennis Bernard, national chair of government relations for the nonpartisan JFNA and a metro Detroit resident. “And if this is the case, they’ve made it clear, both financially and with their vote, that they would support Mike Rogers in the event El-Sayed wins the primary.”

Detroit-area Jewish Democrats have asked Bernard, over golf outings, for introductions to Rogers, he said. 

The reason: They see El-Sayed — who has questioned whether Israel should be a Jewish state and suggested that Democrats who support Israel only do so because of financial motives — as portending an existential threat to the national Jewish community. If he wins in a purple state, one in which pro-Israel Jews have for years butted heads with U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the pro-Palestinian Democrat, some fear more candidates with similar views will follow, and lead to an unsafe environment for Jews in Michigan and beyond. They worry that increasingly hostile discourse creates an environment in which antisemitic harassment becomes more acceptable and Jewish political activism is considered suspect.

“This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime moment where you have to become a single-issue voter,” Bernard said. “And that issue is antisemitism, our Judaism and Israel. This is where you put party third: our people first, our country second.”

Another Jewish leader told JTA there was also an effort underway to convince pro-Israel Republicans to vote for Stevens in the state’s open primary, even if they decide to later vote for Rogers in the general.
“Anyone who cares about the future of the U.S.-Israel relationship, Democrat or Republican, needs to vote for Haley Stevens in the Democratic primary,” they said, requesting anonymity because they did not want to be seen as speaking for the community.

Cant remember who he was talking with, but in an interview with Trump the interviewer ended it with “go get Pickaxe Mountain” so I’m sure we will see one of these weekends a massive bombing campaign against a mountain… again.

The thing that’s wild to me is this water bottle story likely wouldn’t get ANY coverage if he was a Republican running, if anything Fox would spin it as showing him being a fighter or some shit.

If we continue on this path, ESPECIALLY if we try and take Kharg Island, we are going to see more and more bodies come home.
