I'm a senior lecturer at large public R1, but the small liberal arts college where I did my undergrad and where I later returned to teach as an adjunct has been flashing danger signs for a while now. The usual list of reasons applies: declining enrollment, some racist incidents that were poorly handled by admins, rising costs, what looks like serious debt, crumbling infrastructure, rising tuition. Now they've been issued a warning by the accreditation committee, and the coach who led the only sport with any kind of following just quit. I left a long time ago but still have some attachment to the school and wonder if this means the school is pretty much done for? Have any other SLACs managed to come back from this kind of situation?

Super last minute but I can't use my 2 GA1 tickets + parking pass. Is anyone interested? With discounts I paid about $30 but these should really get used so I'd let them go for whatever you can afford, and if that is $0 that's okay.

I’ve got two GA tickets on the first base line for tomorrow and can’t make the game. It’s Star Wars night and they’re having a drone show so it should be hella fun! I have a single seat available for Saturday's game in premium reserved, section A, row 2. Looks like a great seat, but I already have tickets in GA. I didn’t buy one last season or the one before and it’s cold at these night games! Oaklandish only has kids’ sizes. Anyone have an L or XL adult hoodie they’d like to sell or trade for some GA first base line tickets? Not picky about design as long as it says Ballers.

Lecturer here using a burner for privacy reasons, but let’s just say I’ve been at Berkeley since before Y2K. I teach classes with less than twenty students and this semester, in one section only eight people filled out a course eval even though I gave time in class and sent reminders.

This doesn’t hurt me in particular (although based on past evaluations I’m a good instructor but I brought snacks! And people still didn’t fill them out!) but students should know if lecturers and GSIs get a really low rate of return on evaluations they can actually lose their jobs and be denied wage increases and promotions. We’re in bargaining this year and the more people show an interest in our courses the more it helps with contracts.

Sure, plenty of faculty suck, but these forms do count, and for non tenured people, we actually read them and use the feedback and so do the department and dean.

It’s two numbers to check off, and we need your help on this. Now that BCourses is back, why not procrastinate on studying for five more minutes and fill one out now?
