The real reason why Hanaki lost

Hanaki had a Z-Gun, but he didn't use it.

As shown during the battle, Hanaki exhibits sadism. He likely abandoned the Z-Gun to kill his victims more slowly, just like the Sadistic Trio did.

If Hanaki had his Z-Gun when he faced Nurarihyon, he would have dealt more damage to the boss and had more time to escape while Nurarihyon regenerated.

Of course, Hanaki's panic also played a role, but I believe the Z-Gun would have increased his chances of surviving this fight.

Highest points in Gantz

I have summed up all the points we know the characters have earned, even if Gantz didn't count them.

Example: Kurono killed 10 shorty aliens, but Gantz didn't count it and even deducted all his points he had earned before. But since the Gantz Manual states that each shorty alien is worth 3 points, I decided to add Kurono his well-deserved 30 points.

The same goes for George. He died in the Osaka Mission, but we know for sure that the Inugami he killed was worth 68 points. So I added them to the 300 points he already had.

Nishi stole this kill...

  1. Nobuo fights Tengu, who we know is worth 71 points.

  2. Tengu dies. George decides that Nobuo killed him with the X-Gun delay.

  3. Immediately after that, George fights Nurarihyon.

  4. We see someone picking up the Nobuo's Z-Gun from the ground. It was Nishi.

  5. Nishi loses his arm and is no longer able to fight, yet he earns 75 points by the end of the mission.

The point is that Nishi was following the Osaka veterans from the beginning to steal their points. When he killed Tengu, no one suspected anything. Later, he decided to reveal himself when he tried to kill the boss.

This detail is easy to overlook, and I only realized it after watching the Gigant Gantz video on YouTube.

Highest kill count's by gantz hunters

This top contains both human and alien kills.

  1. You should understand that this count is approximate. I tried to count, but sometimes it was extremely problematic to determine the exact number of chopped bodies on the ground.

  2. In fact, the characters killed much more aliens, just we were not shown it.

  3. I'm sure that this top should have been entirely made up of members of the Osaka team, but this manga isn't about them, so it's impossible to calculate how many kills they've made. Hanaki has killed far more than Sakata, considering that he scored over 200 points, but he's ranked lower in this top because he's killed fewer aliens in the manga pages.

About Kuwabara's hair color...

In Oku's official artwork, Kuwabara has purple hair. And no, it's not the neon lighting. Oku has posted several other colored frames from the manga with a purple Kuwabara.

Considering he's a teacher, this is very odd in conservative Japan.

Hanaki also has dyed hair, but he's a junkie, so no one cares what he looks like.

Kuwabara is different. I have nothing against guys with dyed hair, but I think natural blonde or brown hair suits Kuwabara better.

In Gantz Minus, we see a piece of Nishi's past when he comes home and sees his mother hanged. He later finds her suicide note, in which she says she wanted to "go away together"

So, you should understand that this is a fan translation, but in English, this expression has two meanings. "Go away" literally, and "go away" figuratively (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a native speaker).

This means that Nishi's mother may have been planning a double suicide with her son.

Nishi's mother was the only person he loved, so his mother's words essentially doubled his motivation to kill himself, believing that's what his mother wanted.

If you want to watch this short moment as a fan comic, here's the link:

Gantz Argentina is, in my opinion, the best Gantz spin-off because it's an excellent and self-contained story about a team of gantzers from another country.

What I liked:

  1. The country's national character is captured, reflected in the aliens, among other things.

  2. The author uses familiar tropes but deconstructs them. For example, the main characters are somewhat reminiscent of Kurono and Kishimoto, but at the same time, they are completely different characters.

  3. Crypto is a team member and a dog who actually participates in the battle, unlike Rice from the original manga.

  4. The Argentina team includes a half-vampire, and the author truly explores the theme of vampirism in Gantz, bringing it to an international level.

  5. The characters feel like real people, and their conflicts are incredibly interesting to watch.

  6. Even though this is a fan story, the author makes interesting connections to the original. For example, the latest mission released so far tells the story of aliens reacting to the Oni-Mission in Japan.

I know the author. He planned to redraw the first chapters and has already completed the first seven, but he stopped at the eighth because he's currently working on a 200-page one-shot (so you won't be surprised by the level of art varying from chapter to chapter).

But the author is positive and says he'll see Gantz Argentina through to the end, even if it takes a long time.

Ishibashi was the first formal leader of the Tokyo team.

The light novel mentions he had yellow teeth, and given his long, uncut hair, I can only assume he was homeless or something.

Ishibashi was cruel, and he and his teammates had a personality reminiscent of the Osaka team.

But I respect Ishibashi for how skilled and dangerous he was. It's essentially the same logic that makes many of us still love Izumi.

So, Ishibashi died in the first mission in Gantz Minus, but he was the last man standing on his team and dealt critical damage to the boss, allowing the main characters, Akari and Ooki, to survive.

Unfortunately, we don't have many official images of Ishibashi, but if you want to see him in action, you can read the fan-made doujinshi in English, thanks to the translation by Manga System:

Osaka team from Gantz, team O from squid game, careers from hunger games and claimers from twd - they are all unpleasant people, but at the same time, their role in the story cannot be overstated. They create a significant amount of tension.

These groups often include some of the most charismatic characters.

It is very realistic for bad people to form groups in order to survive, even if they later betray each other.

For works that focus on criticizing society, these characters are the best way to portray human flaws.
