Why did the suits feature Greek letters?
That’s a detail Oku quickly abandoned, but I’m curious about the reasoning behind adding them to the suits.

Given that this is probably another of Okas projects under pen name, and the CG animator is the one who worked on Gantz O and Netflix is investing into a lot of darker anime’s lately, new Gantz merch dropping and selling out, the new Dark horse manga rerelease.. it shows were an active fan base and with the rights freeing up soon in theory, could it be… time for a new Gantz anime????
I can understand why people dropped it. I actually lost interest myself for about a year because the story felt like it was all over the place, the arcs dragged on for far too long, and, man... the new art really didn't help.
But I had some free time this weekend and suddenly remembered the series existed, so I decided to catch up. Honestly... I don't think it's changed all that much. The story is still pretty messy and can be a bit cheesy to read through, but now that there are a lot more chapters, it's much easier to just skim through and enjoy the action, which makes for a much better reading experience overall.
One thing I do think they handled really well is buffing all the "old bosses" from the original series while still making them feel true to themselves. Kanon, for example, now seems to be around Nurarihyon's level, and the Oni Leader is an absolute monster, definitely worthy of the 100-point tier and the tile Lord of Thunder. Despite those massive power-ups though, they never feel out of place. Instead, it feels like this is how strong they were always meant to be. If anything, it reinforces the idea that the hunters in the original series only managed to defeat them through a combination of sheer luck, teamwork, and circumstance rather than simply overpowering them.
That said, I still don't think it's a particularly great spin-off. But if you're a big Gantz fan and have some free time, I'd say it's worth checking out.
Also, the next arc is the Vampire arc, and it seems pretty interesting so far. Considering they've already played pretty loosely with the timeline, I wouldn't even be surprised if this ends up explaining why the vampires hated the Gantz hunters so much in the original series.
The story would have been even better in a futuristic setting. I think it would have made a lot more sense if the story took place in a futuristic setting. Starting the narrative in a mundane, contemporary Earth setting made the beginning much more boring than it should have been.
willing to kill himself for a random girlie just bc he knows she has a son, willing to kill himself for a random homeless man who stumbled upon the train tracks. willing to sacrifice his chance to freedom to revive his friend. overall just the king of empathy i think.
every time i’d want to be selfish, kato encourages me to not be. never mind what would Jesus do lets talk about what would kato do
Okay so first I just want to say I have only ever watched the Gantz:0 movie but I have lurked on this thread learning more. I just have a couple of questions and confirmations.
First- who was the 100 point boss that Oka killed
Second- in the movie Kurono at the end brings back that girl and then keeps playing until he gets another 100 points.
Third- the players are free to live their life between fighting for Gantz?
Those are my big questions.
I swear I enjoy this manga more than I should. Makes total sense now. Bro is really just like me 😭
I read all of Gantz when it was originally released and really enjoyed it. Many years later (now), I'm finally doing a reread of the whole manga.
I'm not too far but I had a question looking back at chapter 13. How exactly did Kishimoto survive the onion alien? She got separated from other Kei and was running, we see she not only looks back, but the onion alien is actually on her tail. After the events of this mission are over, it shows she survived but it's never brought up.
Did I miss something? Ty!
So even if the gantz game ends, the tech of GANTZ (revive, teleportation, cloning etc.) still exists. We know the WHOLE story of GANTZ manga is literally exist because of some sick elit peoples entertainment. After the exposure of this tech to whole world in the end, there will be a lot people and organization who will desire this tech for themselves and i really really want a sequel about this. Like how would other organizations would use this tech? We knew what elits did this with this tech, they created GANTZ, then what kind of things would other organizations create with this tech? What would wars evolve into? I can imagine what would happen and its just grousome, terrifying and its exactly what we all want from Gantz and its possible sequels lol.
I searched up "Gantz deluxe edition" just to see if its been announced and after scrolling for a second I found this. But once I clicked on it, it just leads me to the Dark horse front page
This is the closest moment he had to "redemption" or at least approaching being an ok person. But because it's Izumi, it couldn't be quite like that...
As he drew his last breaths he took the time to actually look at his "girlfriend"s face for the first time. And then told her a bunch of lies about taking her on a trip to disneyland as he died. He never cared about anyone else for his whole life. In his final moments he made an attempt for the first time but the whole concept was too alien to him for him to actually share a genuine moment with another human being.
Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
