Questions about Personal Shopper Full Time Role (Schedule & Call Advice)

Hi everyone, I applied for a Full-Time Personal Shopper position a while ago. I was waiting for a response, but since I haven't heard back yet, I am planning to call the club to follow up. Before I do, I want to get some realistic expectations from current or former Sam's Club employees regarding scheduling and availability.

What I put on my application:

- Days: Sunday through Thursday (Off Friday & Saturday)

- Time Block: Afternoon and Evening (Targeting the 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM block)

My actual flexibility (What I can offer on the call):

- Preferred: Sunday–Thursday (Off Friday/Saturday)

- Backup: Thursday–Monday (Off Tuesday/Wednesday)

I know Sam’s Club runs strict block schedules (4 AM–12:30 PM or 12 PM–8:30 PM). I have a few specific questions before I make my call:

- Q1: How likely am I to get hired with my preferred Sunday-Thursday Afternoon / Evening block?

- Q2: If the Sunday-Thursday option is a long shot, does my backup Thursday-Monday schedule make me significantly more hirable?

- Q3: Since I already submitted Schedule One Sunday-Thursday on the application, is it okay to offer the Thursday-Monday Schedule Two as a backup over the phone, or will that look weird to the manager?

- Q4: When I call the club, who exactly should I ask to speak with? (People Lead, or Digital Team Lead?)

- Q5: What else should I know to prepare for the call, and what usually happens during a follow up?

Appreciate any insight or tips you guys can give me!

How much control do you have in setting up your schedule as a Part-Time Personal Shopper?

Hey everyone, I will make this post short and straightforward. I applied for a Part-Time Personal Shopper (Club Pickup) position about a week and a half ago. This is my first job, and I plan to call the store soon to follow up. I want to keep my expectations realistic.

On my application, I checked Morning and Afternoon for Sunday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday are completely unavailable due to family responsibilities.

I am willing to work the 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM shift. However, I would prefer starting working at 9:00 AM/10:00 AM to clock-out at 5:30 PM / 6:30 PM (working 4, 6, or 8-hour shifts).

My Questions:

  1. Can I realistically get hired without Friday/Saturday availability? Will blocking those days hurt my chances, or does being open on Sundays make up for it?

  2. What shifts am I most likely to get? By selecting Morning/Afternoon for Sun–Thu, what specific hours do managers usually hand out to part-timers? Will they be more likely to hire if I'm willing to do the 4:00 AM shift?

  3. How much control do you get over locking in a routine? Will a manager let you establish a fixed schedule each week, or do your days and hours constantly change?

  4. Do they give part-timers full 8-hour shifts? Can I get full 8-hour days across just 2 or 3 days, or do they always prefer short 4-hour blocks spread over 5 days?

Thanks for the reality check!
