Struggling with setups for f1 V8 gen 1 and others

As in the title, I find it hard to setup the formula cars.

I know that I can always try the setups from the hotlaps, but some of them are just weird and I can't seem to drive properly, it's usually a 50/50.

The problem is also that various platforms like coach Dave etc do not have setups for this kind of cars, and their setup iq doesn't work with ams2. Do you suggest anything? Like are there any specific YouTube guides I'm unaware of? Or do you know some database?

Thanks in advance ✌️

After three days of design, build and paint, my Racekit RK1 is finally done (almost)

Intro:

I've always loved DIY rigs. My first was an Alfa Romeo inspired cockpit on the model of Ricmotech Rs1. Though with time, the side panels and the general structure started to bother me a bit, and I was looking for something more slick, where I could also change between gt and formula sitting positions. Then I stumbled upon this design from Racekit, the RK1, and I fell in love with it instantly. I love the design, the engineering behind it and the sturdiness it seemed to have. I decided to purchase it and give it a try.

Review:

Design - the design is beautiful, very well thought and highly adjustable. Though, the original design has the wheel stand with a central post, which I honestly don't like. There I made a modification to the original drawing and added a couple parts to better satisfy my needs.

Design and build - I will say that you need to be proficient with fusion, especially if you want to edit the files, or even if you have a cnc machine available and don't want to follow the suggested toolpath which in my opinion has too many steps and can be done with a couple tools. I'm a newbie and the process took me quite some time, though no rocket science.

Putting it together is really straight forward, though, I would say that since plywood sheets aren't always exactly 18mm wide, you will have a lot of sanding to do before the pieces will match the pockets, or any other component that needs to be moved (wheel stand, pedals and seat). So be prepared for some hammering, sanding, and lots lots of screwing etc. In my opinion glue is irrelevant and the build is super solid, there is no flex at all since the pieces are held together by m12 bolts. So, with some "tough love" and patience, you can make it. The ergonomics are good once you put the yoga mat, otherwise it's not as comfy only with wood.

Costs - shortly, this entire setup including files and materials costed me 300€. I live in Scandinavia though and the prices are absurd for wood and other things.

The drawings are 30€, wood 180€ (2 and a half sheets) , bolts 40€, paint 30€ and yoga mats 20€. I didn't have to pay a fee for using a cnc because my university has one at a lab (though I would say a company asked me 500€ to cut it including materials)

I believe given the beauty of creating a rig that you like, being able to personalise it etc it's worth the cost it has to make, for what i paid. At that price I could only get playseat cockpits or similar, which are not that good in my opinion, or at least not as sturdy as this rig, I swear this thing doesn't move a mm.

Final thoughts - I love this thing. I really tried my best and I love it. It's the design I want, it looks cool and elegant. It is sturdy and handles 8nm easily, including load cell.

I still have to finish a couple things and apply some decals and some final edits.

What are your thoughts? Do you like it?
