Dune/Hyperion/Foundation - Which is the best to start?

Which should I start with? I'm having trouble deciding as I keep reading good things about them all. I want to read something that's part of a huge world that I can get into and just keep reading and digging with a long series - these seem to be the gold standards. Pretty new to science fiction but loved books like The Secret History, God of the Woods, 2001 Space Odyssey, etc but always find myself wanting more.

Would prefer if something isn't very dry - I'm honestly not sure what I'm really looking for but something that's accessible and really draws the reader via style and plot in would be great.

Don't really know what I'm saying honestly but any suggestions would be great. They all seem pretty long so I want to commit myself to one for at least a book or two. I haven't gotten into a "world" for a while so not sure what to expect.

Liked Project Hail Mary but it felt a bit immature in terms of the writing style - loved the plot and everything though

College Aquarium Advice

Would love to start a small saltwater aquarium in college and I’ve been fine with freshwater for a few years but I think saltwater could be a great project. Would love to start a reef and just work on growing out a few coral.

What’s the minimum tank size I’d need? Is 20 the minimum or can I go lower? I’d like to add a few fish but would want to know what the options are. I love fish so would want some but I really want to focus on growing out coral and building out a community with inverts with just a few stunning fish.

Any advice would be great. Ofc I’m concerned bc of breaks and things like that this might not be able to be a reality as I’d go home for a couple weeks here and there

Timeline for 2027 summer internships

Anyone have any info on this? I’ve heard that the process is supposed to be around August but also reading that it’s moved up this year. Not seeing a ton of open applications though. When should I apply? I’m wondering is it better to apply once you feel like you’re ready or just asap?

Macro Trading - S&T to HF still a thing?

I'm reading that banks are more and more just market makers instead of taking risk, making it difficult to make those transitions difficult.

Also a little unrelated, I'm wondering what people think about the future of Macro Trading with AI. I have read that it can be a positive and a negative. Negative is obviously the models can replace humans trading and analysis but if a lot of them are similar enough that creates overcrowding in certain areas and that results in oppurtunites for people smart enough to observe that.

Can Soto ever win an MVP?

Is that realistic at all considering Ohtani is pretty much an auto MVP every year, and probably has 2/3ish more years left of this insane level? Soto’s only 27 so obviously a chance but wonder what people think.

Edit: Hypothetical- let’s say he goes nuclear this year and drags the Mets to the playoffs - does he win? Even if Ohtani keeps up his pace?

Wells Fargo S&T Internship (FI Rotation)

Markets Rotational Program in Charlotte

Anyone know about this program? How good is it in comparison to the other banks? How much are you hurt by being in Charlotte? Is Wells known for any products? Any particular desks that are good? Return offer rate? Exits? Future prospects as the bank is growing? Etc

Hi, I'm an American student at an Ivy looking long into the future and I'd like to attend OxBridge and train there after I graduate and work for a bit (currently a sophomore planning to work in finance for two years). I would like some clarity in the process because I'm sure its not as simple as the websites make it seem. I'm planning on majoring in Math with Economics (I can blend them), and I'd prefer to get an MBA or MFin but I don't really care what its for honestly as long as I'm in. I think the whole experience would be enriching regardless.

My first question is, how important is the GPA beyond getting above the minimum entry requirement? Is someone with a 3.9 better than a 3.8? Currently, my gpa is slightly above a 4 but I am planning on taking much more difficult classes in the next two years and I anticipate it going down to about a 3.85. I don't want to change my major or classes but if this is a major thing for these admissions committees I want to know. I'm also wondering if they look at specific classes on your transcript - or if they just take the GPA as a whole?

What are the other differentiating factors in the applications besides gpa? There's written statements and other things like that I know but I want to know what's really making the big differences for the candidates who are accepted.

Also, I'm looking to attend for two years - so Oxford has the 1+1 MBA program but I'm not sure how I could do that at Cambridge. Getting in then applying all over again while I'm there in the hopes of being accepted again seems risky. Would appreciate any comments here.

Any advice would be great, I'm very confused about a lot of this and I'm thinking some people here would have a decent idea - maybe even better than the grad school subreddit lol
