I built an AI assistant for PSX financial reports — looking for honest feedback

Hey everyone,

I've been working on an AI assistant specifically for PSX investors that can read and analyze company financial reports (annual and quarterly) and answer questions based on the actual documents.

The idea is simple: make researching PSX companies easier without having to manually go through dozens of pages of financial reports.

What it can do right now

  • Answer questions about PSX companies using their annual and quarterly reports
  • Provide citations/page references for the information used in an answer
  • Compare financial performance across different years
  • Extract information about management commentary, risks, outlook, capex, expansion plans, etc.
  • Answer questions that require finding and connecting information from different parts of a report

I'm still in the early stages, so I'm much more interested in finding where it fails than hearing that it looks good.

If you invest in PSX, I'd appreciate it if you tried to break it with real questions you would normally ask while researching a company. In particular, I'm interested in:

  • Incorrect answers
  • Missing information
  • Poor or misleading citations
  • Questions it struggles to answer
  • Features you'd actually find useful

I'm building this primarily around actual PSX financial reports rather than generic web information, so the goal is to make the answers traceable back to the source documents.

No financial advice is intended here — I'm primarily looking for feedback on whether this is actually useful for PSX research.

How do you guys research PSX companies using annual reports?

For those who do fundamental analysis of PSX companies, how do you normally go through annual and quarterly reports?

I'm particularly interested in how people handle questions like:

  • Why did profit increase/decrease?
  • What caused changes in margins?
  • What risks has management highlighted?
  • What are the company's capex/expansion plans?
  • How do you compare information across multiple years?

Do you read the entire annual report, search specific sections, use financial websites, or have your own process?

I'm trying to understand how other investors actually approach this because going through multiple years of reports can become quite time-consuming.
