1st Multi-Day ultra cycling trip (4d for 730KM, 12k elevation)
Hey Friends,
first some quick words on me and then see what I have in mind and if that makes any sense or if I'm being delusional:
- 30 years old, lots of endurance sports in the past few years, last years was ~10k cycling + 1k running
- Lots of indoor training since Nov'25, avg. around 10h per week
- light weight at ~65KG with recent ramp test FTP at 4.1 wkg. I ride a very light 6.5KG endurance road bike.
- Longest ride was 250km in a large group last year, avg. 33km/h. Last week I've done 200k + 1.5k elevation in one day and then the next day 150k + 2k elevation - No real issues (but also no luggage)
- Done several rather "relaxed" multi-day trips with 80-150km + 1-2k elevation per day, always more enjoying the nature than pure focus on cycling
- In 2027 I'd like to participate in some ultra-endurance races, but I want to "test" on a trip before (this one).
I want to do the following route (all tarmac), carry as little luggage as possible and no riding in the dark. I'll stay at hotels (3 nights)
What's your view around:
- is this feasible? or can I even be faster by considering to ride in the dark?
- what is a must bring?
- anything I'd have to consider going through the alps like that?
