Borrowing a Cello

I’m an incoming freshman this fall. I’ve been playing cello for 10 years, and I'm going to record a video audition for the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra, but because of the distance and logistics, I have no way to bring my own instrument to campus.

I already reached out to the NDSO director, Mr. Stowe, to see if the university has instruments to loan out, and he said no. His recommendation for me was to rent from a local shop, but 4 years of renting is a massive money pit, and buying a second instrument doesn't make any sense either.

Does anyone have an idea to obtain one, or is there anyone on campus or a local alum who has a cello sitting in a closet or taking up space in an apartment that they’d be willing to let me borrow/foster for the academic year? If anyone does have a cello that needs to be played and used while you focus on your own classes, I would be incredibly grateful to take it off your hands.

thankss
