Women’s Club Soccer

Hey there, I was wondering how competitive is Notre Dame‘s club soccer team for women?

I am an ECNL player that does not want to compromise my college aspirations, which includes Notre Dame very high up on my list, just for the sake of playing D1 soccer. I have turned down overtures from other D1 colleges (not on my target list of schools), because the schools & the education matter greatly to me. But, unfortunately, I am not quite at the level of a Notre Dame program (Nationally ranked Top 10).

Is women’s club soccer competitive at ND? Is it so competitive that I might not even make the team? Would my mid D1/high D3 skills do the the trick? Is it fun? I really want to keep playing soccer in college (at some level) because I love the sense of being on a team, the tight friendships, staying active & fit, and I really need an outlet for that competitive athlete in me.

Looking for referrals for consultants to help with Notre Dame admissions

Any ideas how to find someone who can advise one of my students who is Protestant at our Protestant school and dying to go to Notre Dame?

Should you bring siblings along to Welcome Weekend? (Member of the class of 2030 asking)

Hi everyone, class of 2030 member here!

My family and I don't have much experience with the whole "Welcome Weekend" thing, and we've run into an issue. My mom thinks we should take all of my siblings with us to welcome weekend, whereas I don't think that is a good idea. For context, I am the eldest of four. I have a younger brother age 16, a younger sister age 12, and my youngest brother is age 10.

I don't know what happens during Welcome Weekend but I worry that they would be dragged from activity to activity and wouldn't have very much fun. They also hate walking---I'm not sure if that's an issue, but if there is a lot of walking during the process, let me know, because they refuse to go on walks for more than a mile and will complain a lot. Also, not to add a personal bias, but college is a new start for me, and I'm not sure I want all my siblings trailing along as I try to get introduced to everyone and make new friends.

My mom thinks that they should be there to see me off to college, and that they won't be doing the same things as me because there are different activities for parents. I agree with her that it would be nice for them to be there as their eldest sibling moves away to college. Still, I don't know if it would be very fun or productive for them.

Do any of you have experience with this? Is it normal for siblings to come along, and if so, what will they be doing the whole time? Will other incoming freshman have siblings there, or will it just be me?

Thanks so much to anyone who answers!!

Financial Aid

So I was looking at my financial aid and it says my net cost is 2k. I’m not able to afford that and my family makes less than 60k a year. On my financial aid letter it says I received 91k for financial aid. I’m not sure if it’s a mistake or what. Or if it’s just normal and I don’t have to pay anything. I’m not sure what to do

The Woman Behind Angela Boulevard

So far as I can tell, Angela Boulevard is the only South Bend road named after a historic local woman. Her name wasn't even Angela, at least not when she was born.

Before she was Angela, she was Eliza Maria Gillespie, and she was born into one of the most connected families in 19th-century America. She gave it all up at 29 to become a nun. Then she spent the next three decades building a school, running hospitals, and commanding 80 nurses in a war.

I still don’t feel at home after 3 years. Need advice.

This isn’t meant to be a post dogging on ND. I’m a rising senior and I’ve had a really hard time here. I feel like I haven’t made any real close connections and almost everything is surface level.

I feel like everyone compartmentalizes friendships here into “class friends” or “dorm friends” and there’s not a whole lot of actual crossover outside of that. Idk if that’s just me. It feels impossible to have an actual friend group and I just have these friends I’ll say hi to in passing.

I’m from SoCal and idk even the vibe here feels so different. I almost transferred out freshman year but my application conveniently didn’t submit. I’m Catholic and I think God has a reason for me being here. It felt so magical when I came for admitted students day but it hasn’t ever felt the same since then.

I joined the clubs and all of that stuff but things still never felt deeper than surface level. I went abroad last semester and had a group there and it was rlly great. I loved it. But then the moment we got back we all stopped hanging out. The same compartmentalizing thing.

I truly don’t know what to do. I feel like I wasted my college years here and it’s making me really sad. I want to enjoy ND as much as everyone else does. I just need some advice or hope that it gets better. It’s my last year in fall. This is my call for help. Please pray for me or give me any advice you have.

Random ND music nostalgia question…

A new friend told me there was an old late-90s Notre Dame-area band called Stomper Bob that had a song called “Sin Boy V” which was allegedly inspired by him (or at least by a memorable late-night college story 😂). Now I’m absurdly curious and trying to find the lyrics or even the song itself, but it seems to have vanished from the internet. Does anyone here remember the band, the song, or happen to still have the CD Not Just For Breakfast Anymore?

Getting away game tickets?

I'm a current undergrad and hoping to go the the game at BYU next fall. Tickets are so expensive (cheapest in 400s right now), and I was wondering when the best time to buy is? Should I wait until day of? Will they go down at all between now and the game?

Waitlist Decisions

I'm hearing about all these waitlist acceptances in early May. So, have most students already been notified if they were accepted off the waitlist? I'm losing hope by the day fr

Can transfer students take summer session courses immediately after being admitted?

I'm hoping to attend Notre Dame this fall as a transfer student, but I feel slightly behind on my coursework. Should I be admitted (I was on the extended waitlist last year, so I hopefully have a good shot), do any of you know if it would be possible to take summer courses there this year? I'm mainly concerned about the fact that the summer session classes begin on the 8th of June, but decisions are only released on the 20th of May, which would only allow 18 days to sign up and get housing done.
