Does anyone know what is going on with the accusations against a female rector?

This instagram page has recently shared numerous anonymous allegations involving rape, sacrilegious acts involving religious items, and harassment. I'm not active on instagram but apparently it's a female rector from McGlinn - The Observer published on it. She's hardly older than any of the students. I'm sure some of the ARs (typically graduate students) are older than her.

I'm an alumni and am horrified. I realize there's probably legal reasons folks aren't talking about it but...what the hell?

Not to sound old but back in my day most rectors were older priests, seminarians, and nuns. Not that that makes them less likely to commit acts like this, but I am so horrified at how, and why, someone like that was in charge of a dorm and how there are so many accusations.

Canadian-centric Dystopian Satire

“Timely, funny, and frightening”: Those are some of the kind words Will Ferguson, the iconic multi-genre, multi-award-winning Canadian author, chose to describe my forthcoming novel in satire, The View from Stansberry Lookout, to be released by Canadian publisher Guernica World Editions on Sept. 1, 2026. Here is Will’s blurb, in full: “The View from Stansberry Lookout is a tale for our times. A richly imagined satire of quantum doorways and dying republics engulfed in flames—both metaphorical and real—it is timely, funny, and frightening. Dystopia has never been so fun. Fans of Vonnegut, rejoice! —Will Ferguson, Leacock-winning author of Meanwhile, Back in Nokomis” As an American who is deeply offended by Trump’s ongoing assault on Canadian sovereignty and Canadians in general, it is my hope that my Canadian-centric novel will be well-received by my Canadian colleagues throughout the world. Cheers!  James Gaitis jamesgatis.com

Being a Non-traditional student at ND

I'm going back to ND after doing 4 years in the Navy. When I was in HS, I didn't have the grades, the money, or the maturity to do it. I always wanted to go to ND growing up, and I became pretty familiar with the campus while I was stationed in Illinois, where I absolutely fell in love with ND. So now I'm going to school at 22, and I'm super excited to go to a school where I can fully live out my faith and prepare myself for a successful future

However, I do feel like a fish out of water since most ND students are 18-22. I really want to go back full-time like a normal student, and I've debated going out for KOC/Cheer and going into the dorms. It's such a huge part of campus life, but I do feel like it would be weird/creepy to do this at 22-26. Not to mention many people told me (non ND people) that even though I was told I can get a single (due to my age/medical), staying in the dorms is a horrible idea, and they are “gross, loud, and immature”. Especially after living in barracks (which were even worse) and having my own place for the past 2 years. However, if I stay on campus, I could pocket my housing allowance. Speaking of fitting in, I feel intimidated because even though I have a similar background to most ND students (upper middle class, K-12 Catholic school), I basically was blue collar the past 4 years and am considered low income due to being independent

Looking for Housing from August to December

Just looking for Housing really. Been trying to use the offcampus.nd.edu website but Ive had no luck at all. I'm an international student with a budget of 900$ dollars a month. Honestly I'd settle for anything ATP. Even if it's just for August to settle my housing for now. Open to roommates and such.

Thank you for your attention.

Is it worth to dream?

So I'm from a third world country. Will complete my high school in a few years. I am thinking to apply for funded PhD in philosophy at NotreDame as living in america really excites me. But then i see the brutal acceptance rates and start to think is it even worth to dream about applying to developed nation's unis. I'm well enough proficient in english as per my age in high school and will continue my further studies in english only.

My main motive for writing this post here is too hear some opinions of fellow students at NotreDame.

P.s:- Also that America has a much holistic approach on applications than compared to my nation also subtly motivates me so that i won't be limited by a single exam or death typa situation

Is the Foundry generally loud?

Incoming law student looking for an apartment. How loud is the Foundry? I'm looking for somewhere quiet and debating between the Foundry or an apartment in Mishawaka. Can't do the Overlook because of the no pets policy.

pro hack: some people can find out their ap exam scores early

dual enrolled students + incoming seniors who used score send to their colleges: u can find out your ap exam scores a couple days early (usually around july 1) by logging in to their college portal and generating an advising report/navigating an internal credit dashboard! colleges process the files several days in advance to handle credits.

  1. log in to your online student portal

  2. locate the main navigation menu and look for a section similar to academics

  3. find an unofficial transcript or transfer credit report

  4. scroll down to view the section about incoming credit or credit for this year

  5. the exams will appear (may be abbreviated or formatted weird) and show the credits

attached is a screenshot from when i pulled this off last year! (the 01/01 is random, it sent 07/01)

(some abbreviations, could be different for your college: artg = 2d art and design, chnlc = chinese, gvam = gov, amhs = apush, evsc = apes, geog = ap hug)

(ignore the sat score it was the legacy paper one and i did it in 8th grade, never sent a new one here 😅)

Borrowing a Cello

I’m an incoming freshman this fall. I’ve been playing cello for 10 years, and I'm going to record a video audition for the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra, but because of the distance and logistics, I have no way to bring my own instrument to campus.

I already reached out to the NDSO director, Mr. Stowe, to see if the university has instruments to loan out, and he said no. His recommendation for me was to rent from a local shop, but 4 years of renting is a massive money pit, and buying a second instrument doesn't make any sense either.

Does anyone have an idea to obtain one, or is there anyone on campus or a local alum who has a cello sitting in a closet or taking up space in an apartment that they’d be willing to let me borrow/foster for the academic year? If anyone does have a cello that needs to be played and used while you focus on your own classes, I would be incredibly grateful to take it off your hands.

thankss

I couldn’t find much information about international student at notre dame so I wanted to see what’s the general consensus of the student body about this is. Thanks! I can only pay 40k in both tuition and col a year btw but that wouldn’t matter since notre dame is need blind right?
