What strategy would y'all recommend?

Hello, I am a rising senior in high school and I am stuck with a really hard decision when it comes to my top two schools. To summarize, I am intending to apply for theology at Fordham and theology&philosophy combined major at Notre Dame, but I don't know which strategy I should pursue. I have a 1450 SAT, very strong religious service-based ECs and essays detailing my own religious experience. I think I have a very strong shot at Fordham, but also a nonzero chance at Notre Dame, but with Notre Dame's REA policy and the ED1 boost at Fordham, I just dont know what to do and want some advice. Here are the three paths I see.

  1. Apply Fordham ED1, Notre Dame RD, highest chance at Fordham and lowest at Notre Dame
  2. Fordham EA, Notre Dame REA, much better chance at ND but potentially at risk of Fordham
  3. Notre Dame REA, Fordham ED2, highest chance of both but I have to wait MUCH longer for my decision which is important

There is a morale factor to be included here. I absolutely LOVE Fordham and have had it as my ED1 target for a long time before I wrote my essays for Notre Dame and began to convince myself I stand a chance if I apply TO. I also really really want my decision to come as early as possible, as it would greatly help a lot of my anxiety regarding this, which is the major con to idea 3. If I can get any assistance from any of yall, that would be amazing. Thanks!

St John’s Priority App?

So I am a rising senior planning on applying to St. John’s (NY), and I love the school, albeit it is very much a safety for me (1450 SAT 3.8 wGPA). I got a letter in the mail today telling me that I am invited to submit a “priority application” that includes stuff like an expedited admissions decision and priority scholarship consideration. Is this worth anything significant?

How easy is it to custom major?

Hello, I am a rising senior who plans to apply to Fordham ED1 this coming fall. But, I am in a bit of a predicament. I am stuck in between two callings, as I am actively discerning the priesthood and want to get my undergraduate education based around that. But, my family wants me to be a bit more practical and keep journalism, my favorite civilian career, as a backup if priesthood falls through. But, this would set me up to have to take a philosophy and journalism double major, and a theology minor, which I’ve asked about.

But, the idea came to me to try and get a combined philosophy and theology major through the individualized study program, combining aspects of both to be able to reach the minimum requirements for ordination (30 philosophy and 6 theology credits) while keeping a large pathway for backups. How feasible is it to do a custom major through this, both specifically with this combo and in general?

Can someone explain corporatism?

Title. I want to learn more about Catholic social teaching and its applications, and corporatism has become an appealing ideology with my own personal disillusionment with distributism (great theory but I struggle to see it actually be practical) and I’m curious as to what Catholic corporatism would look like in practice. With examples and/or references to the Magesterium if possible. Thanks!

COF Military/Counter-Rev paths?

So recently I’ve been playing a lot of SRI, UOB and Russia and I’ve noticed repeatedly that most major/semimajor socialist nations have a military takeover path (Lawrence of Arabia, Tukachevsky/Frunze) or a reactionary path (Windsor restoration guy that I can’t remember his name, Garibaldi, Russian Civil War) and often both, but I am yet to find anything for COF. Closest one is Makhno’s counter-rev but that is still anarchist. Do these paths exist, and if not, why?

Largest encirclement I’ve ever seen! 1.2 million casualties!

Was playing Kaiserredux as Bukharin’s Russia, after defeating the Germans I joined the 3I and went to go fight the Entente forces in Illyria, and managed to encircle ~1.2 million men. This attack drove the Entente out of Europe, and despite not being defeated yet when I finally gave up in 1948, they have never recovered enough to launch a successful attack, it’s just been stalemate for 4 years.

How feasible is it to double major?

Hello, I am a rising senior in HS and Fordham is my number one school by a long shot, I plan to apply ED and would like to think that I have a good shot at getting in. But, I am admittedly still a bit conflicted on what I actually want to study. I feel a calling to be a Catholic priest, and as such want to major in philosophy or theology, but my parents want me to have a solid backup, which would probably be journalism as it’s the civilian career I’m most passionate about and have experience in. In general, how feasible and realistic would it be to double major in philosophy/theology and journalism? and could a theology minor be thrown in as well if I go the philosophy route?

Is camp location fully RNG?

Long story short, as part of a priest/friar RP I’ve been doing, I have my camp in Roanoke Ridge and play as a trader, taking small loads of stuff into Annesburg to RP helping out the locals there. But, for the past few days, it keeps putting my camp in Bluewater Marsh, on the literal opposite side of Roanoke Ridge. I’ve reloaded the game a few times and keep getting different locations but within a 2 minute radius of the same spot, too far to even get to Van Horn let alone Annesburg for my deliveries. Is there any way to fix this and get Annesburg as much as possible?

Chances at ND, Fordham, and BC?

Schools: Notre Dame REA, Fordham EA or ED2, Boston College ED2, if I were to go Fordham EA

Basics: Straight white male, no major hooks (although legacy at BC with my dad being a donor and strong networks at BC admissions), OOS for all although I don't think they consider that, very high income family, will not fill out FAFSA, plan to apply for Theology/Philosophy to become a Catholic priest (yes, I know that the money isnt good. I am blessed enough to where money is not a factor)

Stats: 3.8/4 GPA, 8 APs, 5 dual enrollment (UCONN ECE, 4 of the 5 were also AP courses) 1420 superscore, 1400 highest individual test, will submit TO to ND and BC

ECs: 6 years as church school teacher, 4 years at youngest deacon in church history, 2 years as assistant football coach, We The People state finalist in extremely competitive state, National History Day state finalist, finisted 5th out of ~20,000 teams in nationwide law competition, play-by-play commentator for high school sports, Boys State representative sponsored by local American Legion post, intern with prestigious sports media group that only offers college interns (first ever high schooler accepted)

Essays: Primarily relate to faith and religion, as it is a major part of my life, with my Common App essay about losing 100 pounds of fat in 8 months and the lessons in determination that it taught me, and how I applied them to my academics and personal life

What are my chances?

“Aulic Liberalism” and Eric Von Kuehnelt-Leddihn?

So I was scrolling through the subideologies list graciously provided by u/Enough_Waltz7906, and I found the MarLib subideology of Aulic Liberalism quite compelling in its story. What paths give this subideology?

Hello, I (17M) somewhat recently got into a relationship with one of my best friends (18F) and I’m running into some minor issues with pacing.

In summary, we met in September and she quickly developed a crush on me, but I didn’t want to make the friendship awkward so I didn’t make a move until early March when she finally asked me out. We’ve been on 5 dates, including going to junior prom, in the past 2 months, with two more (2 month anniversary and senior prom) this month. I know I feel very strongly for her, and she does the same.

But, I’m running into some issues with her pace. She is someone who, in general (not just in relationships) does not get close to people easily. Her only other really close friend took 3+ years to get close enough for real physical contact. So far, 5 dates in, I only just recently was given permission to give her a hug. I can’t even hold her hand without her feeling uncomfortable, let alone kissing or anything beyond that. She won’t even tell her parents about our relationship because she doesn’t want them to tease her about it. She told me today that it would take her >1 year of knowing me (so about 5 months from now) to classify herself as “comfortable” around me, and that our relationship doesn’t impact that. For some personal context, I move very quickly. I make friends super fast, and best friends even faster. and this is beginning to take a toll on me. I also have a very deep craving for physical intimacy, even though this is my first relationship so I don’t really know.

But, there is also a time factor. She is a senior in high school, and I am a junior. We will be a long-distance couple in 3 or so months, and I won’t be seeing her daily in school in less than two weeks. I’m scared. I don’t want to break up with her, I truly feel that aside from the pace she is a perfect match for me. But, I also am already under a lot of stress from slowing down so much, to what she defines as a “glacial” pace. I just don’t know what to do. Please someone just tell me it’ll be alright, and if it truly won’t be, what to do.
