Where was Jordan on your 2024 Olympic team pre-injuryfest and where would she be now if making a comeback?

It seems Jordan hasn’t fully decided (or otherwise isn’t ready to announce) if she’s coming back or not. I feel like I see Simone’s name brought up a lot which is fair because she’s the goat and we all assume she could get right back on top by the next Olympics, but I’m curious to see what everyone thinks of Jordan!

Was she on your 2024 Olympic team before shilese, Skye, and Kayla got injured?

If she announced tomorrow she was coming back to gymnastics to try for another Olympics, would she be on your hypothetical 2028 Olympic team? What individual medals do you think she potentially could get at a world/Olympics stage?

(Curious to see if there’s correlation in the comments between people’s 2024 and 2028 predictions and curious to see what people think about hypothetical 2028 odds!)

For me: my 2024 team was Simone, shilese, Skye, jade, and one of suni/jordan/kayla (probably suni but I wasn’t sure about her health at the time). If looking at individual medal potential I think:
AA - Simone and shilese great odds
FX - Simone and Jade great odds
VT - Simone and Jade great odds
BB - Simone great odds and Skye but maybe shilese? Good enough odds
UB - shilese great odds and Skye/Simone ok odds but suni would be a good add for medal potential here and BB.

For 2028 I’d use 2026 worlds as my base for data which has top contenders of hezly, Claire, jade, skye, Reece, and Charleigh as considerations plus I’ll toss in suni and shilese who I believe have both said they want to go for 2028. Within that group if suni and shilese get back to top form I’m taking them for UB and AA for sure. I think they can hold down the fort with BB as well (I have no strong memories of shilese’s BB but I assume it’s good enough lol). I like Jade and Reece at the moment for FX and VT in 2027. That leaves one spot left for hezly/claire/charleigh/jordan/an up and coming junior. At this point in time I think I would take Jordan from that bunch as the fifth person, but it’s definitely a bit of a toss up. I also wouldn’t rule out Jordan or Claire as a FX/VT person potentially taking the spot of Jade/reece.

MNSSHP offerings before 7 pm

Low key embarrassed to be posting because I consider myself a pro! I can answer so many questions! I’ve gone to Disney world multiple times per year growing up (lived within driving distance and parents often had work events in Orlando so we tagged along) and still go a fair amount now.

However my wonderful parents never knew about parties so I will be going to MNSSHP for the first time this year!! (They also didn’t know about reserving meals but we have fixed up that situation haha)

I’ve done a lot of research and understand I need a plan but there are a couple things that still confuse me so help is much appreciated. My friend and I will not be prioritizing stage shows or character meets.

We are planning on getting in line before 4 pm to get in right at 4. I’ve read shopping early on is a good idea because things sell out. We’re not interested in characters (might do a few if it’s quick and easy, and might do non-character photopass stops though!) so don’t need to do jack and sally. My question here is: what other MNSSHP-specific activities are available before 7 pm when the party officially starts?

We’re planning on doing space mountain with the overlay (or lack thereof) and mobile ordering party-specific food from cosmic ray’s. Do we definitely need to wait until 7 for those? I’ve been looking at Disney parks blog for food and they explicitly have when these places close but not when they open.

Also!! I know the three attractions that have an “overlay” are space mountain, tea cups, and laugh floor but I also read that the haunted mansion line gets some exciting stuff and sometimes there are actors outside of pirates… are there any other rides with specific things like that in the line or outside that we might want to catch?

Since we’ve been a bunch we’re prioritizing rides with something special going on, trick or treating (it seems like a lot of those lines have cool things too?), and we will watch the parade! Just trying to nail down what needs to happen when. Also open to other random suggestions if you all have them :)

Thanks!!

My number one tip for incoming students!!

Get off of Reddit!! Genuinely. Delete the app, delete your account.

I am a total introvert and absolutely get why people like to be on reddit so trust me this is coming from a good place.

This is the PERFECT time to just get off of reddit. If you love notre dame and its community, it will love you right back, so please force yourself to make those connections.

There is not a single question you can ask that will be better answered on reddit than an on-campus resource. Right away when coming to campus, there will be sophomores and upperclassmen who have volunteered to be a resource for you and help you. Use them!! Faculty is also very responsive via email. If you have a question that’s not answered easily, go to the source!

Your dorm will have some sort of group chat you can use for general questions or things like borrowing a screwdriver because you don’t have a tool kit. Then, you should join a couple of clubs that align with your interests and that will very likely give you a new group chat and new group of people to answer your questions!

If your local club has a send-off (though I think most have already happened by now), use that to connect with students and young alumni. There will be so many people who are more than happy to be a resource for you so please use them!

College is the best time to grow up and learn to be adult. Notre dame provides a very supportive and safe environment to do so. Learn to be uncomfortable and get your questions answered. You’ll need to do this when you have a job!

Leave your door open in your dorm and you’ll probably have some fun conversations that way too. Go to hall council! Go to weekly activities! You may not find your best friends right away (I certainly didn’t!) but you will find friendly, helpful, trustworthy people everywhere you look. Embrace the community and have fun!!

I had the same friend group from elementary school to high school, and I knew just about nothing about Notre dame before attending, but some people from my hometown were super helpful, I got a “big” in my dorm, and I was constantly asking questions to others in my club group chats. If I can do it, you can too, I promise :)

Btw, a couple things that are super normal that you won’t expect: 1) eating alone!! It is normal and not weird to eat alone in the dining hall. Also can be fun to catch up on your favorite tv show or get some studying in. 2) conversations on your way to/from the shower wearing only a towel. You get used to it haha. 3) school spirit like you’ve never seen… do your best to buy in and embrace it.

For my fellow introverts - welcome weekend is a bit overwhelming but sometimes for the craziest part your dorm may offer an alternative like watching a movie. It’s cool to do that and it’s cool to leave the craziest part early if you want to get a good night’s sleep. You’ll see.

All this to say - get off of reddit and touch grass! You’re smart and accomplished to get into notre dame, and the community already loves you. Have the BEST time and GO IRISH!

What would your solution be to have more pros?

I love current pros and don’t want them to leave, I’d love to see past pros back, and I’d love to see new pros but the numbers just don’t work! I feel like I’m not alone in this. If you could implement a rule or new method, to keep old pros involved or to get new pros in, what would you do?

I feel like the next pro show is actually a great way to see potential new pros.

I think dwtscon has also been a great way to get old pros back in the dwts world.

I also think there should be one episode per season, maybe two (opener and finale?) where every former pro is invited back for a group number.

Some other random thoughts/ideas:
- I would consider (haven’t fully thought this out yet) having pros sign on for terms or 3 season contracts and then maybe have a mandatory waiting period before they can come back so there’s more of a cycle?
- I would maybe like to see them give it a go one season where they have more contestants but they’re split into three distinct groups (I think masked singer does something like that?) and they compete within those groups until a certain point and they merge with a smaller amount. Maybe the groups could be athletes/actors/social media stars or something like that.
- it could be fun to have two seasons per year and different pros for each season
- the pros are such big names themselves now I’d also definitely get a kick out of an all pros season where they just pair up (but if there was ever to be a family season like people have talked about, I wouldn’t want the married couples to pair up, I’d want them to get a parent or cousin or something to be their partner instead)
