With Southern Miss losing in back to back years vs 4 seeds in opening rounds they join 2007-2008 Long Beach St & 2017-2018 Florida State as the only teams to do so.

The trend in (1)seeds playing the early game continues. 11 of the 16 (1)seed have elected to play a day game rather than the night cap. The trend is caught on in recent years and this is the most I remember seeing.
