Beware, chose your snorkel tour wisely
My boyfriend and I went on a snorkel tour yesterday with a company called Snorkel with Carla.
When we arrived at the docks and were signing wavers, they informed us we would only be able to apply sunscreen ONCE the entire time. Mind you, it’s a four hour tour so that’s kind of a big deal. They tell you what to bring and expect, but fail to mention the necessity for proper UV resistant long sleeves shirts or other proper attire. The guides were all wearing proper sun protection clothing so it baffles me they would not mention anything about the intense UV rays.
Long story short, my boyfriend and I as well as everyone on our tour got burnt. Some worse than others, but my boyfriend unfortunately got the worst of it. He has sever sun poisoning and is in an immense amount of discomfort with lots of yucky symptoms. He will be stuck in our hotel trying to recover for the rest of our vacation, which really sucks. I mentioned this to the guides today after he was up all night being sick, and I didn’t even get an apology. The snorkel gear was crappy too, everything was done sooo cheaply and you can tell the owners are making a huge profit, they looked very well off. Ohh and to top it off, they boat was super duper bumpy and the ride was rough.
