Help me remember a restaurant from ~2003

I realize this is somewhat unusual for this sub, but it seems like the best place to ask. I have a somewhat traumatic memory of a Cozumel restaurant I visited when I was 10 and I'm trying to find out the name of the place and ideally find pictures of it. I went to Cozumel on a cruise and my family and I went to the restaurant on foot. I did some googling and it does seem similar to Carlos n Charlies or Senor Frogs, but the theme was different.

The most striking thing about this place was that it was cockroach themed. They had a mural on a wall that was of cartoon cockroaches at a beach scene. The male cockroaches were fully cartoon and anthropomorphic. The female cockroaches were humanoid and just had antennas. The female cockroaches on the mural were topless and doing things like surfing.

It seemed to be a fairly sexually themed restaurant. There were female waitresses that danced on the stage and served shots directly in people's mouths. There was a DJ making announcements over the intercom. I remember they seemed kind of embarrassed that a family showed up and tried to make it up by having me dance on stage with some of the waitresses. They also gave me a tshirt that had one of the cockroach men on it and he had a huge smile and a cockroach woman in a bikini in each arm. So the cockroach theme was definitely more than just a mural.

Does anyone remember this or have any ideas?

Cozumel-what to do?

We’ll be in Cozumel in November. Cruise stop. We want to rent jet ski, explore and see the culture and life there, shopping, and beach. What’s the chances of us getting a taxi to just take us around for the day? Suggestions on where to go? What to do? Do they still have the “naked” beach? Good bars? I want all the details and suggestions? Not just your normal google search results.

Fun and Adventure for first visit

My wife and I are taking our first ever abroad trip and heard great things about Cozumel. We I tend to stay here on the island since the inland isn’t in our plans. We’re in our late 20s early 30s and wanted to know what to do within the 6 days 5 nights in February we’re there. This is what we are planning to do so far:

Cenotes
Beach club for day
Snorkeling with rays, turtles, sharks
Mayan ruins
ATVs
Food tour
Touring the island and taking part in local life

We like to consider ourselves adventurous and want to find the best way to have fun but also relax and take in the island culture. What would you recommend for first timers? Would it be possible to do all of this during our time? I’m open to any and all suggestions provided to make sure she/we have the best vacation ever

Cozumel Fishing: What to Expect as Summer Turns Into Fall 🎣🤿

If you're visiting Cozumel in late summer or fall and thinking about getting out on the water, this is actually an interesting time of year to fish.

As we move out of the peak summer billfish season, there are still opportunities offshore, while bottom fishing and reef fishing for snapper, grouper and other species can be productive throughout the year. As fall progresses, we also start looking forward to species such as wahoo and tuna.

One thing I always tell visitors: don't get too caught up trying to target one exact species. Fishing is fishing, and conditions change from day to day. A good local captain will look at the weather, currents, water conditions and what's been happening recently and give you the best opportunity that day.

Cozumel is also a great place for families or groups where not everyone wants to spend the entire trip fishing. A private charter can combine fishing with reef snorkeling, or you can spend part of the day enjoying the water and some of Cozumel's beautiful marine areas.

Full disclosure: I'm Ricky with Cozumel Anglers. I've been providing fishing & snorkeling charters here for more than 25 years, so I'm happy to answer questions about fishing in Cozumel — seasons, techniques, what you might catch, charter lengths, fishing with kids, cruise-ship schedules, snorkeling combinations, etc.

You don't have to be booking with us. If you're planning a Cozumel trip and have a fishing question, ask away. 🎣🇲🇽

Playa del Carmen

I’m a new investor in Gobernador 28 (in Edijal) this project is in Playa del Carmen and would love to communicate with other investors. My Gobernador 28 closing is set for Jul 2027 or sooner. I would love to hear about your experience and what made you select this project above all the others!
My husband and I liked the location. We didn’t want something too close to the beach, but close enough to everything else to make it rentable. The amenities are exceptional! Also it being directly on Calle 38 makes it super accessible to the beach, (8 minutes)shopping, site seeing, etc

Mexico City tips from a first timer

Just got back from a weekend trip in CDMX, and had a great time. Stayed in Zocalo. Food great, people great, etc. We did not carry enough cash, especially in smaller denominations. Many small shops would not break a 500 for a small purchase. My advice regarding cash is to always have it and have plenty of 100s and smaller if you feel like easily tipping concierges, waiters, etc. Also always greet someone with a buenos dias, tardes, noches - it starts the interaction off in a good way, and do not assume that you will get away with speaking English, practice some basic Spanish and you’ll fare much better.

If anyone has questions about using the CBX to fly from TIJ, I thought it was pretty easy and took much less time than I imagined.
