Hermes leather comparison.

Hermes leather comparison.

When I first started looking at Hermès, I thought leather names were just technical details.
Togo, Epsom, Swift, Box…
They all sounded important, but I assumed they were mostly about texture.
After seeing and handling different bags, I realized leather choice changes almost everything:

How the bag feels in your hand

How much it weighs

Whether it keeps its shape

How easily it scratches

How it looks after years of use

In other words, the leather determines not just how the bag looks, but how it lives with you.
Here’s a practical breakdown of the most common Hermès leathers.

Togo
The most versatile option.
Natural grain, medium structure, and excellent durability. It softens slightly over time while keeping its shape well.
Think of it as: the balanced all-rounder.

Clemence (TC)
Softer and heavier than Togo.
The larger grain gives it a more relaxed, slouchy appearance.
Think of it as: effortless and casual.

Epsom
Embossed calfskin with a rigid structure.
Lightweight, highly shape-retentive, and easy to maintain.
Think of it as: crisp and architectural.

Evercolor
Fine-grained leather with a soft hand feel.
Combines elegance with practicality.
Think of it as: understated sophistication.

Swift
Very smooth and buttery.
Known for rich color saturation and an incredibly soft touch.
Think of it as: luxurious and tactile.

Box Calf
Classic smooth leather with a subtle shine.
Shows scratches easily but develops beautiful character.
Think of it as: timeless and refined.

Mysore
Fine-grained goatskin.
Lightweight, resilient, and slightly dressier.
Think of it as: discreet elegance.

Barenia
Natural saddle leather.
Develops a deep patina and unique personality over time.
Think of it as: the leather that tells your story.

Barenia Faubourg
Grained Barenia with better everyday practicality.
Think of it as: character with less stress.

Quick Recommendations

Best first leather: Togo

Best structure: Epsom

Best softness: Swift

Best relaxed look: Clemence

Best aging: Barenia

Most classic: Box

What surprised me most is that the leather I admired most in photos wasn’t the one I ended up loving to use.

Finally found the green Birkin 25 I was looking for

After looking for the right green Birkin 25 for a while, it’s finally here.

I’ve always liked green bags, but choosing the right shade was honestly harder than I expected. Some greens felt too bright, while others felt too quiet. I wanted something that felt fresh and elegant, but still timeless enough to enjoy for a long time.

I spent quite a bit of time comparing different options before making the decision. For me, it wasn’t only about the color itself, but also how the color worked with the shape and overall feeling of the bag.

In the end, I chose this Birkin 25 from Li.

Before confirming everything, I shared the style I was looking for and the details I cared about. We discussed the overall direction, and I took some time to think before making the final choice.

Timeline:

July: Started discussing the style and details with Li
July: Confirmed the final choice
August: Received the bag

When I finally opened the package, the first thing I noticed was the color. The green looked even better in person — softer and more balanced than I expected. It has a calm and elegant feeling, but it still adds something special to an everyday outfit.

The size was also exactly what I wanted. I’ve always loved the classic Birkin shape, but the 25 feels easier to carry and less formal compared with larger sizes.

After spending some time looking at it and using it, what I appreciate most is the overall balance. The color, structure, stitching, and hardware all come together nicely, and the final look feels very close to what I had imagined.

I’m glad I took my time choosing instead of rushing into a decision. This one turned out to be exactly the kind of green I was hoping to find.

PSP thoughts on this Birkin 40 from Li

Hi everyone! I finally received the photos of this Birkin 40 from Li and wanted to share it here.

I’ve always liked larger bags, but I don’t usually see myself choosing this size, so I spent some time thinking about it. The Togo texture and the overall shape are what made me keep coming back to this one.

From the photos, the leather looks soft but still keeps a nice structure. I also really like the more understated colour — it feels easy to use without being too much.

Would love to hear what you think about this size and the overall look. Anything you would pay attention to?

PSP came earlier than expected — Mini K

Wasn’t expecting the PSP photos this soon, but Mo sent them over earlier than I thought.

I’ve been wanting this color for a while and finally decided to go for it. The pink looks a little different depending on the lighting, so I’m curious how it looks to everyone.

Mini Kelly II, Epsom leather, GHW.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the details before moving forward.

Céleste Epsom Kelly 28–Miss An

Miss An just sent me the PSPs for this Céleste Epsom Kelly 28 with PHW. I really like how fresh the blue looks, and the Sellier shape seems clean from the photos. Before I GL, I’d appreciate a second opinion on the handle symmetry, flap alignment, stitching, edge paint, and hardware placement. Thank you!

Kelly 28 Iris Ostrich PSP — thoughts?

Just received the PSPs for this Kelly 28 in Iris ostrich with gold hardware from Li.

The colour looks really interesting under different lighting, and I like how the ostrich texture adds more depth to the overall look.

I’d appreciate some extra eyes on the shape, ostrich pattern placement, stitching and hardware details.

The total was around 2600

Would love to hear what you all think.

QC—please!

Just received the PSPs for this white and Gris Perle Club Birkin with orange-red lizard trim. I haven’t seen this style in person before, so I’m not sure about the color placement and overall symmetry. Please let me know if anything looks off before I GL. Thank you!
