I (30F) am having trouble with my dad supporting me being gay. I’m having a hard time coming to terms with this and wanted to reach out for some advice. My dad says he loves me but cannot support me being gay because of his religion - he’s a Christian. As a result, he was not invited to my wedding. Now that I am married, I can’t think of anything else that he would really need to show support for in this matter. Should I just forget about how he feels and carry on the relationship? Or if you were in my shoes, would you call the father-daughter relationship quits?

I am starting family therapy with my dad and have no idea what to expect. I’ve done personal therapy and group therapies before but never family therapy. What can I expect?
