How easy is it to get into the NYU Masters in CompE and how long do they take to consider your application?

I’m in my early twenties and considering a career pivot from consulting into computer engineering. My undergraduate degree is in a non-engineering field, and my relevant coursework is mainly calculus, physics, and introductory computer science.

I sent my transcript to a senior professor in NYU Tandon’s Computer Engineering department who advises graduate students. After reviewing it, he encouraged me to apply and explained that I could initially pursue a more software-focused course path while building the necessary background.

I’m glad his response was encouraging, but I’m trying to get a realistic sense of admissions before applying. Has anyone been admitted to the MS in Computer Engineering from a similarly nontraditional background? What was your academic profile, and were you assigned prerequisites? Also, how long did it take to receive a decision for Spring admission?

Would also be curious what other programs would be good for a career switcher like myself.

What entry level STEM careers are even left after AI?

I currently have an two career doing something finance related. The job pays well enough but it isn't super exciting and enjoyable; I just went to a T20 school to study econ because I found it interesting but the fact that I'm not creating anything tangible is starting to get on my nerves (plus the luster of econ is hearing thin).

I've always liked physics and am taking community college physics/programming courses after work to try to pivot to computer engineering (thinking of doing a masters). I have a decent amount saved up and don't have any debt. However, after seeing so many entry level engineering jobs dry up and the remaining ones being so competitive, I don't want to pivot and end up unemployed. I imagine a fresh 22 year old engineering grad is going to be more attractive as a new hire than someone in their mid to late twenties, even if I understand the business side. Seeing ChatGPT and Anthropic plow through high level math/science questions also made me scared for the more hardware jobs too, which some people said were safe (eg Jensen Huang telling young people to study physics for their career). Are there any engineering jobs that aren't going to cannibalized at this point by AI at this point?

Anyone with ADHD try GABA?

I'm a guy in my mid twenties who struggled with ADHD and rumination throughout my life, despite being a functional guy on the outside. Started taking Magnesium Glycinate and GABA recently and I've definitely noticed an important on my baseline mood and sociability, which I mostly attribute to the GABA. Anyone else notice the same while also having my symptoms?
