I Got Hired As Class B HD Wrecker Driver

I got hired as a Class B wrecker driver to start and get a minimum pay per week plus commission.

I have a class A and have about 10yrs exp. I'm expected to be available 11hrs day 5 days a week and one weekend a month. I have towed cars before but never equipment, it was fun but that was 20yrs ago.

Anyone that does HD towing please let me know how you enjoy it? When I did it 20yrs ago I was straight commission and it was like $8hr after all the hours but the police calls were fun. I bought a police scanner and would hear the cops and drive to the scene. I was 20 and dumb back then.

Is it hard to learn? I get a couple weeks training and off I go on my own.

The only thing I don't like is if you damage something they charge you and take it out of your pay. Is it like this everywhere?

Thanks

Any Carter Cat guys on here?

How does it work for service trucks, does everyone get an assigned truck or you slip seat trucks?

I have an offer for a lube tech position and I'm curious if I'm expected to drive to the shop Monday, grab my truck and be out until friday and someone uses my truck on the weekend shift?

I have a CDL so I figured I'd get an assigned CDL truck plus i have HE lube tech exp with John deere. Any info would be helpful.
