Minneapolis now has the green light to increase its overall property tax levy by up to nearly 12% next year, which would translate into 20% property tax hikes for many homeowners, unless the City Council makes major cuts.

Minneapolis residents aren’t the only ones looking at double-digit tax increases: Several cities and counties across the region also are considering eye-popping tax levy increases for next year, including hikes in the double digits in many communities.

Dakota County is considering by far the largest increase among the governments examined for this story, with officials weighing levy increases ranging from 16.3% to 21.2%.

Looking to catch a couple World Cup games over the next week or so. Usually Brits or Blackhart are my go-to, but would like something a little closer to home as an option. Anything in Eagan proper or IGH/AV/Burnsville that would have a good atmosphere and not just the game on?

I live in a residential neighborhood and on a street no one is on unless they live here or deliver something. We get cars and trucks going 30-35 down our street. I have two kids. There are like 12 others on the street that all play outside. It’s dangerous.

What is the right process to follow to request speed bumps or something? Thanks!
