Going into the auction we'll need to look for a backup opener and a proven middle order batter (ik there won't be any but still) and some pacers to fill in the absence of our captain.

I think with Onkar doing good in the maharashtra league(or whatever its called) we've got ourselves a good opening bowler and worst case scenario we could use Madhushanka.

Regardless of Head's availability we should target a backup opener who can handle all sorts of pacers.

The number 5 spot should be decided on Smaran's form later this year. But it's safe to assume we need a backup at that very position for now.

RELEASES:

1. Liam (13) : Couldn't utilise him and I think num 5 would be too low for him
2. Purple (8) : I think he's lost his charm would be better to offload him if he isn't gonna start; Maybe even try a trade with CSK for Khaleel.
3. Edwards (3) : I think since we alr signed Ambrish as relplacement, we dont really need another 'potential' AR
4. Carse (1)
5. Mavi (0.75) : Too injury prone
6. Amit (0.3)
7. Travis (14) : Only if he's gonna be unavailabe for next season ie

Overall we'd go into the auction with min. 30 Cr (excluding Head's 14 Cr) which is great for a mini auction.

I think we should retain Cummo, hes our captain and (keep aside the RR game) he's been getting better with the ball on these pitches. And hes only 33 next ipl so he could easily play another cycle for us.

TARGETS:

• Openers:

1. Brian Benett : Would be a great signing considering how well he handled our pacers in the wc and can potential bring some anchor innings which we desperately need
2. Rachin Ravindra : Has the technique but isn't reliable
3. Gurbaz : Inconsistent as fk but worth a shout

• Bowlers:

Idk I'll let Varun da goat cook, but I do think we should try to trade Purple for Khaleel (CSK), Purple's stats in chepauk cannot be overlooked I think we should push for it, Khaleel can be decent backup opening bowler and gives them a wicket taking middle over enforcer in Purple.

• Middle Order Backups:

Again idk not many option here, we'll prolly have to wait to see other team releases and then decide.
