[Stars of the City] Lazarus Company, a Limbus Company inspired campaign | Sundays at 6:00 pm EST [LIVE TEXT]

==========

Pulled under the embrace of death, all that you have strived for... all that you've suffered through... all to end up as one of the countless corpses in the City... Yet, death is not the end for you as you might have expected. Long after your last breath, oxygen once again enters your lungs and you reawaken anew as something new; a Revenant...

Revived by the Lazarus Company, bypassing the City's taboo somehow, you have been given a choice; join the company's Revenant Department and the company will aid you in that which you desire most. Or, decline and return to the soil and let your story end. With no choice other than the path forward, we welcome you into the LCR.

Your journey begins in District 12 of the City, within the backstreets of Lobotomy Corporation where the company has its first job for you...

==========

Welcome to Lazarus Company! In this game, you will take on the role of a Revenant in the LCR (Lazarus Company Revenant department). Though you have died in the past, it was only a temporary setback as you have been brought back to the living with the goal of finishing what you couldn't originally, so long as you continue to work for the company.

Along the way, you will be tasked with a variety of jobs from exploration, distortion/abnormality suppression, and the most important of all; the acquirement of the Golden Boughs that the company seeks the most.

Most importantly, the game will have more than a few 'Cantos' or story chapters that focus heavily on the stories of one or more of your player characters at a time, giving them a chance to face their past and traumas and learn to grow from it. Not everything will be successful, sometimes you will face failure and be thrown into the abyss. In that abyss, your mettle will be tested and whether you can climb out of it is up to you... Do you falter or do you ascend?

==========

Due to the nature of this game, expect to tackle some heavy topics that may be triggering for some. If topics of mental health, abuse, gore, and many more such topics make you uncomfortable then this might not be the game for you.

This campaign will also be very STORY driven. While there will be more than plenty of combat encounters, they exist to serve the plot and further character development as opposed to being for the sake of hitting stuff (at least most of the time).

As a reminder; this is a LIVE TEXT game, not a PBP. We will be playing on Foundry and making use of a discord server to organize between WEEKLY sessions.

Lastly: Characters in this campaign as REVENANTS, meaning you are playing characters who have died in the past and have now been revived by the company. As such, the death of your character should be part of your backstory. Each of your characters will also be 'weakened' after the revival, so you were originally a legendary fixer of some renown in your previous life, now you're akin to a level 1 fixer. Feel free to get a bit wild with it!

A bit of an intro for your DM!

Heya, I've been a DM for just under a decade now and have ran games in various systems and various settings. The majority of my experience is with D&D5e, but I've played other systems such as Pathfinder/Starfinder, Stars Without Number, Dark Heresy, Shadow of the Demon Lord, Fabula Ultima, and a few others I can't remember.

I tend to run with the idea of story and characters at the front of the game as opposed to back to back combat encounters. That's not to say there will be only a few encounters, there will be more than plenty of fights for you to flex your characters against. When the players are selected, I plan to work with the each of you individually to make an in depth backstory for your character, one that can fit in the setting and can impact the plot immensely. The story will be yours entirely, but with some input on my part to help it fit just that bit more.

The VAST majority of my games tend to be entirely custom made, usually with custom races, classes, and backgrounds for systems like D&D as opposed to running modules with the standard character options. I like to add to the systems I play to give them more 'spice' and am more than willing to work with players to make some new homebrew.

==========

Sessions will be at 6:00 PM EST on Sundays

There will more than likely be homebrew additions to the core rules to give plenty of expanded character options. For now, the core book will be fine.

Interest Check: Lazarus Company, Limbus Company inspired campaign | Live Text

Heya!

I've been on a D&D hiatus for awhile now and I've had plenty of games brewing in that time. One of those games is one inspired by Limbus Company set in The City. To keep it short, would anyone here be interesting in a campaign like that? If so, what system would you use for it? There are plenty of homebrew systems made by fans that could be ran, but I've been thinking of doing slightly homebrewed D&D5e for it but I'm open to suggestions.

======

To get a bit more in depth on the idea and for those who aren't familiar with the source of the idea:

Limbus Company is a game that takes place in the setting of the City; an absolutely massive city about the size of the whole nation of Korea. It's a weird scifi-dystopian-ish type of setting where technology is both incredibly advanced but also oddly almost magic-like at the same time. The City itself is split up into various districts from District 1 to District 25 and each one is ran by a mega corp with a corresponding letter, such as A Corp, B Corp, and C corp. Each district is essentially its own country/territory where the rules from one are entirely different from the other and how they even look and act can be incredibly different even if they're neighboring one another. Such as a district without color where time itself is a commodity, you can buy and sell time to give yourselves a faster or slower perception of time itself. Or a district that more resembles that of Cyberpunk with more advanced technology than you might see anywhere else.

The City is a dark place where just about anything that happens is not without human suffering. It's a capitalistic and classist hell from top to bottom with strange arbitrary rules, borderline magical mega tech, and a trip down the horrifying ideas of humanity unfettered by law and regulation.

The idea for this game is that you'll be playing as characters who are enlisting in a more no-name company called Lazarus Company, (AKA: Legally Distinct Limbus Company). You've all got your own interesting and indepth backstories that will heavily dictate the plot, and the Company has hired you with the promise of helping you with that which you wish for the most; revenge, to reclaim your name, regain your memories, find an incredible treasure, or whatever else your character might desire. All it takes is your enlisting in the company and for you to put your life on the line for whatever it is the company might desire in return...

The campaign itself would revolve around your characters, following a vaguely similar outline to Limbus and its 'cantos'. Though obviously, the same format of the game wouldn't quite translate 1:1 in TTRPG, so expect things to be mixed up heavily and so forth. Note that while Limbus is inspiring this game and we will be using the setting of the City, the plot will be entirely different. So if you've played the games, you won't be going through the same plots you've experienced before.

=====

What I'd like to know is if there'd be any interest in joining a game like this. I've ran several very character-story heavy games in the past with emotionally deep stories revolving around the player characters and more so this wouldn't be new territory for me.

We'd play on Foundry with a Discord server to talk about and prepare for the sessions and hang out between them. On foundry would be my handmade maps, homebrew compendium (depending on what homebrew is made), and so on.

Though keep in mind that this would be a LIVE TEXT game and not a PbP.

Interested? 🤔
