Mobile photography over the last decade or so. Or: I quite like a filter, I need all the help I can get!
I first got into using a phone for photographs when my camera was stolen and I had to think about composition etc a lot more. The first phone I LOVED using was the iPhone 3GS as the limitations of the actual camera were celebrated by loads of apps mimicking retro, lomo, tilt/shift cameras and lots of fun filters. I decided to buy a Nokia 808 pureview as my first real "compromise" between a phone and a camera as you could edit a soft 'raw-like' photo on the phone and also use presets. I had a few Samsungs where it actually felt you could get a useable image without lots of manipulation for the first time. What really surprised me was that I could take photos with my phone and my camera and - to me - the camera was so superior in quality and yet most people I knew couldn't tell the difference. My latest phone - a xiaomi 17 ultra - has caused me to fall in love with filters all over again as some are really lovely and I can't wait to get out and enjoy it. I think a professional photographer can get a good shot out of any camera they use however basic but I love the apps and filters that can really help if you have less natural talent.
Sorry! My tags on the photos and their order have got messed up.
